In the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda, the mangaka of the series, might have introduced a character with just the right potential to do that.
Luffy’s Successor Is Here In Elbaf
Scopper Gaban’s Son Collun Could Make A Great Protagonist
One Piece is one of the longest-running series out there. At the moment, this manga has over 1140 chapters, which is no small number. Since the beginning of the series, fans have followed the main character, Monkey D. Luffy, when he started his adventures all the way back in the East Blue and acquired all his crew members. Since then, Luffy’s adventure has reached a whole new scale, especially since entering the New World.
Right now, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are adventuring in the land of Giants, Elbaf, which fans have been waiting for since Little Garden. This arc has been hyped up since very early on in the series, and here, Oda might have revealed a character capable of succeeding Luffy.
In Elbaf, Oda has introduced many interesting characters. A long-awaited character to finally be seen by fans was none other than Scopper Gaban, the left-hand of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. What was even more surprising to the fans was that Scopper Gaban had a son with a giant woman named Ripley. Their son is named Colon, and he has the potential to have his own adventures later on.
Colon is 20 in the current story of One Piece, but he is still a child in giant standards, as giants mature a lot slower and have longer life spans. It could take a couple more years, but it would definitely be interesting to see how the son of a Roger crew member goes on his own adventures later on, perhaps with his very own crew.

Luffy’s story is, however, nowhere near ending right now, even though the story has technically entered its Final Saga. There is still far too much content that Oda needs to cover, and the Elbaf arc itself could take two years or more to wrap up, at the pace that it’s going, especially coupled with the regular breaks Oda takes every couple of weeks.
But eventually, when the One Piece manga ends, it doesn’t mean all the stories are over. The series has almost infinite potential for spin-offs, prequels, and sequels, and Colon’s story could be a part of that.

When it comes to the anime, the series is finally returning after a 6 month long hiatus. This was a very long wait, and fans are excited for the anime to resume. The anime can be found on Crunchyroll to stream.
