Of Course, Monster Hunter Wilds Players Are Turning Their Weapons Into Thomas The Tank Engine

Summary

  • Thomas the Tank Engine mods are popular across various video games with modding capabilities.
  • In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Thomas mods replace iconic weapons, such as the Artian Hammer and Artian Lance.
  • A unique Thomas mod also allows players in Monster Hunter Wilds to ride the blue train by replacing the Seikret model.

Thomas the Tank Engine mods are nothing new to games. In fact, if a game has modding capabilities, it’s an unwritten rule that somebody has to mod the train into it somehow. The blue, slightly sinister locomotive has made its way to Elden Ring, Resident Evil Village, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and just about every other game under the sun.

Monster Hunter Wilds fans new to the game are just finding out that there are unspoken rules to the hunt.

Naturally, with Monster Hunter Wilds being out for around a month now (and selling over ten million copies in that time), Thomas the Tank Engine mods have begun to make their way to the game. Strangely, though, this time, they’re different from most other mods featuring the train.

Typically, Thomas the Tank Engine mods replace one of a game’s pivotal enemies with the train. The Elden Ring mod replaces the Tree Sentinel with Thomas, and the Sekiro version uses Thomas instead of the Great Serpent. Monster Hunter Wilds does things differently.

Over the past week, a pair of mods have popped up on Nexus Mods that replace two of the game’s iconic weapons with the blue train.

The first mod, uploaded to the website by GrizzlyAdams77 replaces the fully upgraded Artian Hammer with a rocket-powered version of Thomas the Tank Engine, and the second, added by Balthorr, changes the Artian Lance to Thomas.

If you feel that changing your weapons to a whopping train might make things cumbersome, then a second GrizzlyAdams mod might be the one for you. This time, the modder has replaced the game’s Seikret model with Thomas the Tank Engine, allowing you to ride freely through the game via train.

The Thomas mods are the latest evolution from the already-strange Monster Hunter Wilds modding community. Before now, players had merged Nata with the Arkveld, removed fur and feathers from the monsters, and, for some reason, they made Alma “more attractive“.
