How To Feed Armadillos In Minecraft

Minecraft is amazing for sitting back and relaxing while you create your perfect world, surrounded by almost every type of imaginable (and unimaginable) creatures you could come up with. And, of course, you can keep them as pets if you do the one thing every animal craves: feeding them their favorite food.

By doing this small act of kindness, you can get most of those small critters to follow you around the whole world. However, you need to know exactly what to feed them, and some of the most exotic animals, such as Armadillos, tend to enjoy some not-so-obvious treats.

How To Feed Armadillos

Armadillos love to eat Spider Eyes, of all things. They are quite fond of the random drops from one of the game’s most common (and annoying) enemy types, so if you’re planning on having an Armadillo as a pet, you now have a good reason to collect those eyes whenever you stumble across those eight-legged creatures.

To feed them, hold the Spider Eye from your inventory and use it above your Armadillo. If done correctly, you’ll see small hearts floating above its head immediately, confirming that you’ve done it correctly. Armadillos are commonly spawned inside Savannas and Badland biomes, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding them if you have one of these biomes close to you.

If you have more Armadillos, feeding them with Eyes while they’re together will cause them to breed, slowly creating a new family of armored critters. Babies will always follow you while you hold the Spider Eyes. You can breed them indefinitely, but each breed has a cooldown of five minutes before you can do it again.

Armadillos’ Utilities And Features

Aside from being cute new pets for your dream house, Armadillos can also be helpful in certain ways. They’re the only source for Armadillo Scoutes, which is used for making Wolf Armor for your other possible pets.

They are also quite helpful in defending your territory, as Spiders are afraid of them. Have some of them around your house, and you won’t have to worry about these monsters for a while. They’ll still spawn and may try to approach the area, but will turn back as they spot an Armadillo around.

How To Get More Spider Eyes

Spiders are common spawns in the game and often appear in the overworld during the night. They’re also quite common inside caves and any area without light sources. Walking around during the night is one of the easiest ways to meet a few of them. You can also make a small cave, ensuring it has no light access, and wait for them to spawn.

Remember to leave your house well-equipped if you’re going to hunt some Spiders. They’re one of the weakest mobs in the game, but can still do some serious harm if you’re unprepared. Have some swords ready to kill them as soon as they try to bite you. Other tools can also work in a pinch, such as Axes. They never spawn in groups, but be careful with other possible monsters.
