Ena: Dream BBQ has many things to do in its intricate and bizarrely beautiful world, and most of the things are optional. If not optional, you can choose to do one or the other, ensuring it’s a game that you can play more than once, and have a very different experience.
One thing that’s not optional is the game’s Get Rid Of This Smoke job, which is essentially this chapter’s main objective. There are multiple ways you can accomplish this, and how you do it is going to depend on what you choose to do in some of the optional jobs.
There are two primary paths that you can take to accomplish this objective, relating to the For The Economy job, or by obtaining the Humanboard through a couple of other jobs. We won’t go into specific detail guiding those other jobs in this guide, but we will detail which job you’ll need to do, in order to follow both paths.
How To Begin The Job
Starting this job only requires walking through the beginning portion of the game; walk through the blue bed “door” in the opening section, and walk along the hallway in the following section. This will put you in a new room with other characters, and one of those characters will be someone looking to accompany you further on.
The problem being, something is generating too much smoke for them to go on. They implore you to Get Rid Of All This Smoke in order to move on.
This will actually give you the Help Needed job, but it is essentially a step in beginning the Get Rid Of All This Smoke job.
Speak To The Receptionist
You’ll find the Receptionist back in the direction that you came from, through a door that was closed before. She’ll be in a room with a couple of other characters who are gambling; speak to the Receptionist, and you’ll have complete Help Needed. You’ll then get a call from the Frog, and he’ll give you the Get Rid Of All This Smoke job.
Go Through The Lonely Door
From here, go back to the area with the Frog, and turn left. There will be an arch with a blue shape; interact with the blue shape, which is The Lonely Door, and it will teleport you to a new location.
A Sudden Urge
Once you’re in this new area and begin moving through the dark building, you’ll get a “sudden urge to go to the bathroom”. You’ll get another call from the Frog, and have the combo objective of getting information about the smoke, and going to the bathroom.
You’ll move into a room with a large stained-glass window on the right, and a door on the left. The door won’t open until you interact with the window. Once you have, go through the door, and you’ll be outside.
Divergent Paths
This is the area in which you can take different routes to the final section of the chapter. There are many different side jobs here, some of which are important, and some of which aren’t necessary for completion.
There are two different ways you can do this:
- With the Humanboard that you acquire/create in the Looking For A Life? I Know The Recipe! job, or;
- With the Taxi after the For The Economy job.
Both of these jobs are entirely separate from the Get Rid Of All This Smoke job, but one of the two must be completed in order to progress.
Where To Start ‘Looking For A Life? I Know The Recipe!’
To begin this job, go to the left and walk into the strange tent with arms, a head, and a giant tongue on the left. Here you’ll meet a Wizard who will point you toward the direction of the bathroom, but tell you that you’ll need to create life in order to reach it.
Where To Start ‘For The Economy’
To start For The Economy, you’ll need to move further into this new desert area, past the dilapidated and crooked building slightly to the right, and talk to the House in front of the giant headless man.
How To Reach The Bathroom With The Humanboard
Either job you choose, you’ll eventually end up in the same place. But, after completing those jobs, you’ll be given a different way to reach the bathroom; we’ll detail how to get to the Bathroom with the Humanboard, first.
Head Back Across The Bridge
After completing Looking For A Life? I Know The Recipe!, you’ll have acquired the Humanboard. This will allow you to essentially plant a human in the ground in certain areas, marked with a small hole and some bones, creating a walkway for you to walk across.
The Humanboard only lasts for a few seconds, so climb fast. You can recall the Humanboard with a right-click.
With the Humanboard, travel across the large bridge that leads to the area where the Witch used to be. Once in that town, head down the path, and turn right when there’s an opening with scratches on the ground. There will be a place to plant your Humanboard here, creating a staircase that will take you to the rooftops.
Use The Humanboard To Keep Moving Upward
From here, keep using the Humanboard to travel upwards. There will be some parkour involved here, as well as ever-increasing wind that pushes you harder and harder, the further up you travel.
This will eventually lead you to a door full of white light; travel through the door. Here, you’ll end up in an area with a giant creature hanging down from the orb above. Interact with the creature, and you’ll be sent to the final section of this chapter.
How To Reach The Bathroom With The Taxi
If you opt to use the taxi to reach the Bathroom, you’ll have a very different path.
Talk To The Taxi Driver, And Get In The Taxi
Once the Taxi Driver has regained their heads, speak to them, and then get in the taxi. They’ll drive you to a new area, which might seem maze-like at first, but only really has one way to go.
Walk far enough along the path, and a giant building will come hurtling out of the sky to block your way. Travel back to the taxi, and you’ll find a platform that you can use to jump to the rooftops of the area.
Keep traveling across this area until you reach a place to drop down; there will be a giant ear on the ground.
Enter The Ear
Once you’ve entered the ear, you’ll be at the entrance of what appears to be some kind of dance club. Talk to the pair of legs on the right, and then talk to the ticket booth, to gain entrance.
Once you’re in the nightclub, there will be characters to talk to spread throughout the rooms. Talk to the characters and keep moving through the rooms, heading forward as best you can from the room you started in.
Eventually, you’ll come to a room with a girl hanging with ropes on her legs from the ceiling. When her dialogue is over, every room will fill with pink goo. The pink goo is going to overwhelm you, but you’ll then be in a similar style of room, after seeing the caption: “The whistle sounds… hungry.”
Follow The Whistle
You’ll then be able to go in any direction, but the only way out of this maze is to travel through the doorways where the whistle is the loudest. Keep heading toward the whistling sound, and eventually, you’ll head through a doorway that leads you to a cutscene.
The Bathroom
Either way you do it, you’re going to end up here, in a dark place with a river of light in between you and a giant portable toilet. You can try to jump across the platforms that move across the river of light for an achievement, but eventually you’ll end up in the light, and end up in a new place: a large courtyard area full of tiny buildings and a blindfolded King.
Talk To The King And Enter The House
The King will be to the left of where you start, and you’ll want to talk to them. Once you have, look for the yellow-ish creatures in the area; they’ll point you toward one of the buildings.
The building that you’ll need to interact with is the fifth one from where you start, on the leftmost side.
Interact with this building, and you’ll find yourself somewhere entirely new.
Get Rid Of The Smoke
Move through this new brightly-colored area into a large room full of water and flying creatures. Interact with the broken creature in the center, which is the genie that you’ve been looking for.
This genie will take you to a new place, with a device that’s the source of all the smoke. Interact with the device until you break it, and you’ll be transported somewhere new.
Move Through The New Worlds
From here, you’ll be taken to a black-and-white world. Every direction here will take you to the same place, and eventually to an area that’s similar to the desert area from before, though now it’s much less colorful, and there are strange gravestones all over.
In the distance and past a green-and-purple cluster of small houses, you’ll find the building that led you to this place when you entered it for the first time. Go inside, and head for the blue door.
The blue door is going to be closed; and you will not be able to open it, and you’ll be overtaken by the growths appearing on you. Once the growths overtake you, you’ll be greeted by the final cutscene of this chapter.
There will be a scene at the end of the credits, and the credits are very short, at around two-and-a-half minutes.
