As you might expect, given the name of the series, many of the quests in Monster Hunter revolve around slaying the titular beasts. While gameplay has always been the main focus, Monster Hunter Wilds attempts to remedy the storytelling shortcomings of previous entries, placing much more emphasis on characters and narrative than fans are used to.

Take on some formidable foes in a new way with arena quests.

Side quests offer an exciting opportunity to dive into these new cast members, such as Alma. She is your handler, serving as a direct connection to the hunting guild, and although she normally has everything under control, it seems she’s misplaced her glasses. Help her find them to earn rewards and new customization options.

How To Begin The Apple Of Her Eye

Alma upset about her lost glasses in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The Apple of Her Eye is included in Title Update 1, so make sure the patch has been downloaded to your system. After it’s installed, you can speak with Alma at camp, where she will lament losing her special glasses.

She remembers seeing Wudwuds when she lost them, so it’s up to you to talk to them and track down your handler’s missing spectacles.

Traveling To The Wudwud Hideout

Your quest prompt will tell you to find a Wudwud who’s seen Alma’s glasses, and there’s no better place to start looking than the Wudwud Hideout. You can fast travel to their home directly by selecting it from the Forest map menu.

Once there, you’ll meet Thunk (what a name), who will direct you to a search party combing the river. He surmises that the lost glasses may be found out there.

Searching The River

The river will be marked on your map. After arriving, you can talk to some of the Wudwud search party, who will claim that the “sparkly red good things” are around here somewhere.

After a bit more poking around, you’ll find Ayejack tucked away in a corner. He’s wearing Alma’s red glasses but runs away once you approach.

Back To The Hideout

Go back to the Hideout and speak with Thunk. He can’t offer much help, but he will suggest coming back during the Wudwud festival so you can question the other inhabitants.

To access the festival, it needs to be nighttime during the Plenty. Go to your nearest tent and rest to continue the quest.

Wudwud Festivities

Once the correct environment and time conditions have been met, the party at the Hideout will begin. You’ll need to ascend to the top of the structure in order to speak with the crowd.

Walk through the main entrance, then look for an exit on the building’s side. Walk out, and you’ll find vines you can climb to reach the others.

You can trade with some of the Wudwuds, and others will outright gift you free items, so speak to all of them.

One of them will tell you that Ayejack is around but left the bonfire to go to sleep. Descend to the Hideout’s ground level and search for him. He can be found in one of the hanging leaf nests wearing Alma’s glasses.

Some players have found it difficult to find Ayejack due to a quest marker not triggering properly or the character not spawning at all. You may need to enter and exit the Hideout a few times in order to show up.

Trade With Ayejack

Ayejack will part with the glasses, for a price; he wants one Eastern Honey in exchange for giving them back. Hand over his requested item, and the glasses will be Alma’s once more, ending the quest.

If you don’t have any Eastern Honey, it can be found easily by interacting with Giant Vigorwasps.

Completing the mission also earns you 300 Guild Points, an increase to your Hunter Rank, and the ability to craft both Strategist Spectacles Alpha and Square Glasses Alpha.

How To Change Alma’s Glasses

Alma’s eyewear can be changed in the Appearance menu found in tents. You can choose from her default option or the ones she just found, as well as swap her whole outfit if you have purchased or redeemed any.
