Summary
- Demon King’s Longsword is Jinwoo’s strongest weapon, providing +350 Attack and “Storm of the White Flames” effect.
- The weapon has different appearances based on its current wielder.
- While Jinwoo prefers daggers, the Longsword is his strongest weapon, surpassing his Demon King’s Daggers.
During the final episode of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, Sung Jinwoo reached Level 100 (which will be very important in the third season of the series) and revealed one of the artifacts he got from the battle against Baran in the eighth episode of season 2. The Demon King’s Longsword is aptly named as it was once the Demon King Baran’s trusty blade.
Just how powerful is this new weapon, and how does it compare to the others in Jinwoo’s arsenal?

Sung Jin-Woo collects a lot of weapons throughout Solo Leveling, with some being pretty average strength, and others being extremely powerful.
About The Demon King’s Longsword
A Blade that Belonged to the Monarch of White Flames Himself
As mentioned previously, the Demon King’s Longsword was one of the items Jinwoo received from Baran’s dropped loot, and it is a ridiculously powerful melee weapon that gives its user +350 Attack and the “Storm of the White Flames” effect that unleashes a lightning storm at random when the sword is swung. Jinwoo makes use of this effect to cleave through swarms of berserk ants to clear the way for the evacuating Korean S-Rank strike team on Jeju Island. The sword’s appearance matches its ominous name, as it is a light-coloured sword with a thick black tendril running through the centre of the blade.
For whatever reason, the Demon King’s Longsword’s appearance changes to reflect its current wielder; for instance, when it was in Baran’s possession, it was a light blue blade with a yellowish guard and grey hilt. In Sung Jinwoo’s possession, the Demon King’s Longsword retains its light blue blade (for a while), but the hilt and guard become pitch-black. Jinwoo eventually gives the sword to Igris to use as his primary weapon, and decades later, the sword becomes Cha Hae In’s primary weapon.
The Solo Leveling: ARISE mobile game has an interesting and different description of the Demon King’s Longsword, which is a SSR item in the game. It is described as having a “thunder spirit” known as Grouse trapped within it, and also having the quintessential “cursed” effect that is common among “demon swords” in fiction, as it drains the life force of its user to fuel its abilities.
According to the secret files, the Demon King’s Longsword came about in the aftermath of the aeons-long battle between the Monarchs and the Rulers, a period in which fellow Monarchs turned their blades on each other and vied for positions as underlings of Kamish, the Dragon King. After experiencing a shocking betrayal that resulted in his being impaled with a longsword, Grouse’s anger manifested in a powerful electric current. Baran held the sword despite the powerful electricity flowing around him and when everything was settled, the sword hummed with power.
How Does It Compare to Jinwoo’s Other Weapons?
Currently the Strongest in Jinwoo’s Arsenal
By the end of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, the Demon King’s Longsword is Jinwoo’s most powerful weapon and is an S-Rank sword. In the Solo Leveling manhwa, the System describes the blade as “brimming with the Demon Lord’s power”, while the Storm of the White Flames effect is described as the summoning of “a storm of endless lightning within an area”. With its +350 Attack, it easily becomes Jinwoo’s strongest weapon, eclipsing even his Demon King’s Daggers, which he used during the clash against the Ant King and have +220 Attack (each).
Jinwoo would probably use the Demon King’s Longsword more if he were a swordsman, but it’s clear that his weapon of choice is a pair of daggers, so even though it’s his strongest weapon (like, by far), Sung Jinwoo is more likely to use other weapons in his arsenal. While it is his strongest weapon by the end of the Jeju Island Raid Arc, this is only just the beginning, as Jinwoo will run into far more powerful enemies and thus get the chance to get far stronger loot.
