Dataminers may have come across a feature in the next Battlefield game that could brew a lot of controversy among fans. According to the leaked info, EA and DICE might be working on a dedicated subscription service for Battlefield 6, which will include the first-person shooter’s battle pass and additionally offer several other benefits.
Subscription services aren’t quite a new concept for the Battlefield series, with Battlefield Premium first debuting in 2009’s Battlefield Heroes. It offered perks like XP boosts, an additional Daily Claw spin, access to the Premium store, and more for an upfront cost. Battlefield Premium also made its way into Battlefield 3, as well as subsequent series entries up until 2021’s Battlefield 2042. With EA yet to fully unveil the next Battlefield game, the community has been left to pore over Battlefield Labs datamines for clues.

Battlefield 6’s ‘BF3 2.0’ Status is a Good Thing
The next, as-of-yet untitled Battlefield game seems to share a lot in common with Battlefield 3, but maybe that’s a good thing.
MP1st recently reported on a datamine that found evidence of a new monetization system dubbed Battlefield Pro in the files of Battlefield 6. The membership purportedly includes access to all battle pass content, exclusive instant unlocks, an XP boost, and 20 tier skips. More intriguingly, subscribers would be able to host persistent servers via Battlefield Portal, suggesting the sandbox mode will return. The package also contains a bonus content path to be unlocked later in the season, access to exclusive “Pro Challenges” for rare cosmetics, and even something called the “Pro Radio Station,” which remains a bit of a mystery.
Every Datamined Battlefield Pro Membership Perk
- Includes all battle pass perks and rewards
- Instant access to six Battlefield Pro exclusive cosmetics
- +10 percent Battle Pass XP
- Battlefield Portal: Host a Persistent Server
- 20 Tier Skips
- Access to exclusive Bonus Path for extra exclusive content
- Access to Battlefield Pro Challenges vault
- Pro Radio Station
While there are historical precedents for a Battlefield Premium-esque membership in the next series entry, it comes during a time when a lot more popular live-service games offer subscription models of their own, such as GTA Online‘s GTA+, Fortnite‘s Crew, and Rainbow Six Siege‘s R6 Membership. Hosting persistent servers in Battlefield Portal could be quite interesting for the next Battlefield game, though, especially for more creative and/or community-focused players. However, it’s worth stressing that this is still an unconfirmed leak and the final product may differ, or never launch at all.
Even so, the idea of Battlefield 6 featuring a subscription model has sparked strong feelings among fans who are concerned about DICE paywalling non-cosmetic items behind the Pro membership. This was one of the chief concerns surrounding Battlefield Premium over a decade ago, and it remains so even today. Curiously, another datamine from last month hinted at the return of the 3D spotting mechanic in the next Battlefield game, which also has fans divided. Hopefully, EA and DICE will take the feedback into account.
