The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land

Within memories lies the true key to the truth, as described in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & The Envisioned Land. You and your party set off on a course to find that truth and reputation of alchemy, which the Aladiss have long since declared taboo and dangerous.

Here are the most complex crafting systems in video games!

As you travel and gain party members, you’ll get to know them through trial by combat, sidequests, and stories of their own. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones are ours? We can’t tell you whose favorites are yours, but check out our favorite characters below!

6

Lenja

The Party’s Baby Sister

Lenja on the left is holding her hands to her face and holding a shy pose, while Lenja on the right has her sword out and she is on all fours prepared for battle with glowing red eyes in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.

It’s easy to underestimate the quiet member of the group. Lenja is shy, usually apologizing, and is on a journey of atonement due to the ostracism of her whole clan. You can’t help but love this gentle soul. Though gentle, she fights with a severity and strength that belies the potential for greatness that lies just below the surface with her large sword.

She is versed in Mana and applies elemental damage to all her attacks, as well as manifest daggers that take on elemental properties. Her Maximized Mana Surge, Lionhearted, takes all her accumulated daggers and turns them into pure power to take out a singular enemy. It’s the power of the quiet one that rings the loudest.

Along with her martial prowess, each of her physical attacks can reduce the cooldown of either an individual item that has the longest cooldown that’s been used, or, like with the case of the skill Accel Edge, it can reduce the cooldown of all items that have been used in battle, making her invaluable to an alchemist’s party.

5

Nina Friede

The Mysterious Mercenary

Nina on the left is in the air while pointing her pistol, on the right she is standing while holding her dagger in her right hand and holding her left hand to her face in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land

A mystery wrapped in an enigma, Nina is here to accompany you, complete her job, and be done. Or is she? On the surface, she is an affable mercenary who is more than capable of protecting you, Yumia, while she makes her way across the continent, but during conversations with her, you get the sense that there’s more to this journey for her than meets the eye.

They might just be here because you paid them, but these video game mercenaries are still memorable in their own right.

In battle, you’d be lucky to even see her with your naked eye, as her attacks are lightning-fast. As she levels, her attacks scale with her Speed stats, meaning she only gets faster the more she sees combat. Soon, you won’t be able to see her coming; and with her ultimate, Zero Chance, being an almost guaranteed instant kill, you’re lucky it isn’t your bounty she’s out for.

Her skills primarily focus on increasing her speed, but there are a few, like Combat Techniquest, for example, that increase your overall crit rate, making your opportunity for explosive damage that much better.

4

Rutger Arendt

The Sacrifice Of Life Is What Makes Him Strong

Rutger on the left faces his back towards the camera while holding his scythe in a down position, on the right, he's holding it up reading to attack, while his eyes glow a bright yellow in the game Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.

Don’t let the rough-and-tumble exterior fool you. He cares a lot about the investigation team he travels with. Sure, it takes a while, and there are several bumps in the road, some of which come from his personality, but soon, this prickly scythe master becomes a beloved and strong member of the team who sacrifices a lot for them.

What exactly does he sacrifice? His own life force whenever he uses certain attacks, such as Bloody Heart or Necromancy, which increases the critical rate of his attacks. It’s not all risk and reward, however, as he also has skills that he uses to replenish his HP and not leave Yumia and the rest of the party in dire straits.

The lower his HP, the harder his attacks hit the enemy, so sometimes, at least to him, it’s worth the risk of putting his life on the line to get the job done. Slowly though, with Yumia’s help, he’s learning that maybe…that’s not always the answer.

3

Isla Von Duerer

The Fashionable Half Of The Twins

Isla on the left raises her right arm and smiles brightly, while on the right she raises her spear and charges it up over her head, readying it for attack in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.

Isla is the shining ball of sunshine that makes everyone at the party smile, whether they want to or not! A fashionista who is adept with a sewing needle and loves to put together a cute look. Isla is a people person and emotionally intelligent, which makes up for her older brother’s stoic and sometimes off-putting personality. At least to those who don’t know him.

While not the fastest or the strongest fighter, Isla is still competently balanced in both of these categories. Her only drawback is that she’s slightly more squishy than the other members of the party, but if your parry reflexes are up to snuff, that’s not going to be much of an issue for you.

Stun is usually triggered by magic attacks.

Her biggest weapons are the skills she learns along the way, because not only do they deal decent damage, but they are the only physical skills in the game that innately cause stun to enemies, revealing their elemental weakness.

2

Viktor von Duerer

The Shield Of The Party

Viktor on the left stands straight, with his hands fixing his top and his shield on the ground next to him, on the right, He has his shield equipped and raised, preparing to attack with an angry look on his face and his off hand balled into a fist from the game Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.

Stoic wouldn’t be the right word to describe the elder von Duerer sibling. No, the seriousness that he carries with him doesn’t come from a place of professional knighthood; rather, it comes from a place of failure and melancholy, of a time when he couldn’t save the remainder of his loved ones. The vow to protect Isla wears heavily on his face, even now.

As the knight of the group, he uses his shield in both offensive and defensive situations by bashing enemies at close range and blocking incoming attacks, but he’s also got a surprise ranged weapon hidden inside his shield, too, with Charged Shot. Viktor is nothing if not thoroughly prepared for any situation.

His attacks also cause the widest range of random effects on enemies with varying levels of success. Helios’ Judgment causes AOE damage and reduces a random stat to anyone caught inside, while Cross Bind inflicts Daze to anyone caught slipping on the wrong end of the shield.

1

Yumia Liessfeldt

Alchemist Of Memories

Yumia on the left stands with her back facing the camera while she holds her gun-staff, on the right she gives a forward facing high power kick like in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.

A gun-staff, melodic martial arts, AND a motorcycle to get around on? Yumia is just overall really fun to play with. Though this is true, if you aren’t careful in how you level her up, you’ll be in for a rude awakening in later parts of the game. Gaining levels through battle is all well and good, but this is an alchemist game down in its roots; that’s where Yumia’s power is.

The more you create items and level her alchemy skills, the more overpowered she becomes in battle, and the faster her cooldowns become, making her a nigh-unstoppable force of pain without the worry of waiting for attacks to come back.

Reducing cooldowns is just the start of it. Once she unlocks more skills, her passives allow her to increase the gauge of the party’s Mana Surge and increase the damage of the party’s Friend Actions and items as well. Yumia unlocks the party’s true potential when you invest in hers.
