In just eight episodes, Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry show introduced multiple key figures with impressive fighting capabilities that engaged in some exciting action sequences. But this fictional universe is so huge that by the final episode, viewers can’t help but wonder who the strongest character in the entire show is.

Simply put, it wouldn’t be a Devil May Cry game without these iconic traditions making an appearance in one way or another.
8
Echidna
A Terrifying Demoness Who Can Control Plant Life
- Series Debut: The Deep and Savage Way (Episode 3)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry 4
The main antagonist of the series, the White Rabbit, has recruited multiple powerful demons for his personal army. One of his most notorious warriors was Echidna. This serpentine demoness has the unique ability to generate and manipulate plant life, which cemented her as a major threat to Dante, Lady and the DARKCOM hunters.
Echidna can use her long body to slam her opponents, and her vines to restrain and asphyxiate them. But her most efficient weapons are the thorns, because they are sharp, quick, and she can shoot a flurry of them in an instant. Despite her immense power, Echidna was unceremoniously killed by one of Lady’s special demon-killing bullets.

Agni & Rudra
A Duo Of Sadistic Demons With Fire And Wind Powers
- Series Debut: The Deep and Savage Way (Episode 3)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening
Agni and Rudra are a duo of demon brothers who also work for the White Rabbit. While they may initially come off as simple-minded brutes, they immediately prove to be among his most valuable warriors. Just like their game counterparts, they can both summon swords that they can use to fight and to channel their respective elemental powers — Agni uses fire, and Rudra uses wind.
But the Netflix versions of Agni and Rudra seemed even more powerful than their game counterparts, because they didn’t need swords to utilize their elemental abilities. Agni could summon destructive fireballs from his hands, and Rudra could summon potent wind currents out of nowhere. He could even use them to fly around at high speed. They were both so strong that Dante needed to use his Devil Trigger form to defeat them.

Cavaliere Angelo
A Dark Knight With Solid Defenses And A Powerful Electric Sword
- Series Debut: The Deep and Savage Way (Episode 3)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry 5
There’s no denying that Cavaliere Angelo was the most powerful member of the White Rabbit’s army, seeing that he was the last one of his warriors that Dante killed. He was featured in many intense action scenes throughout the show, and he always came off as a terrifying and strong demonic dark knight.

In a series packed full of endlessly charismatic characters, it only makes sense that the Devil May Cry games are also known for their iconic quotes.
Like his game counterpart, Cavaliere Angelo wields a massive sword that can channel electricity. And if that isn’t enough, his black armor and his red wings give him some much-needed defense. Long-time fans shouldn’t be surprised that this version of Cavaliere Angelo ended up being so shockingly strong, seeing as he was one of the hardest bosses in Devil May Cry 5.

Mary Ann Arkham (Lady)
A Skilled Demon Hunter With Hatred In Her Heart
- Series Debut: Our Lady of Sorrows (Episode 2)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening
Mary Ann Arkham (also known as Lady) is one of DARKCOM’s strongest demon hunters, and one of the main characters of the story. She is cold, calculating and stoic. She’s skilled at wielding multiple firearms in combat, like guns, assault rifles and even her signature rocket launcher, Kalina Ann.
Of course, she also had many demon-killing bullets at her disposal, which can make a demon’s head explode. These special bullets proved to be the most essential part of her arsenal, to the point that she even used one to defeat the White Rabbit in the final battle. But the best thing about Lady is that she is not a demon, nor is she enhanced by demonic powers. She’s just a regular human with enough strength and mobility to go toe-to-toe against the strongest supernatural entities.

The White Rabbit
This Antagonist Was Quite Powerful On His Own (Especially After His Transformation)
- Series Debut: Inferno (Episode 1)
The main antagonist of Netflix’s new Devil May Cry show is the White Rabbit, an original villain who is loosely based off of a similar character from the 2005 Devil May Cry 3 manga. Despite his odd appearance and intimidating demeanor, he’s not actually a demon at all, but a human who is keeping himself alive and enhancing his power with demon blood.
The White Rabbit was strong by himself, thanks to his brilliant strategic mind and Force Edge, Sparda’s powerful sword that he acquired in the first episode. But he got even stronger after Dante defeated him. He ate a small demon named Bloodstryke, which resulted in a monstrous transformation. The White Rabbit became a hulking beast that had enough physical strength to fight Dante one-on-one and kill multiple DARKCOM soldiers with ease, and he could still wield Force Edge with one hand. It’s no surprise that it took the combined efforts of Lady and Dante to kill him.
3
Vergil
His Brief Appearance Was Enough To Cement Him As A Major Threat
- Series Debut: At the Gates of Paradise (Episode 7)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry
In episode seven, seasoned Devil May Cry fans finally got to witness the reveal that they were all waiting for. This universe’s version of Vergil is still alive, and he was conspiring with the White Rabbit from within the demon world. Of course, his brief appearance did not fully convey how powerful he is, but it was enough to establish him as a major threat to Dante, especially if he’s going to appear in future seasons.

10 Games That Replicate Devil May Cry’s Combat, Ranked
Devil May Cry’s combat is quite iconic and memorable, to the degree that other games have replicated the style.
In his introduction, Vergil wears his classic Nelo Angelo armor, which means that he has already been enhanced by Mundus. But in the final scene of the season, he goes back to his classic human-like form and uses his signature katana, Yamato, to execute his iconic Judgement Cut and slice multiple human soldiers into small pieces. On top of all that, it is reasonable to assume that he has the same superhuman abilities as Dante, including a Devil Trigger form.
2
Dante
This Version Of The Main Character Did Not Disappoint
- Series Debut: Inferno (Episode 1)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry
This new incarnation of Dante had some big shoes to fill. The version from the video games has always been portrayed as a powerful, heroic, and charismatic half-human, half-demon. Fortunately, he did not disappoint. This Dante may be younger and less experienced, but he still has all the unique skills that make him special.
Dante’s demonic heritage gives him superhuman strength and speed, showcased in the many scenes where he fights other humans. His regeneration is extremely impressive, as seen when his entire face healed after a bomb exploded. He is also very skilled at using firearms and efficient at sword fighting, especially when he’s using his signature weapon, the Rebellion sword. Needless to say, the most crucial part of Dante’s arsenal is his Devil Trigger form, which he unlocked in the third episode.
1
Mundus
This Demon Lord Has Taken Over Hell
- Series Debut: Inferno (Episode 1)
- Game Debut: Devil May Cry
The new Devil May Cry show featured multiple strong combatants, but there’s someone who is above everybody else in terms of power, and he doesn’t even appear much in the story. Early in the series, it’s established that Sparda was a heroic demon who turned against his master, Mundus, and used his strength to create a barrier that separated the human world from the demon world. The White Rabbit later reveals that Mundus took advantage of this barrier to take over the demon world and rule it with an iron fist, putting himself at the top of its hierarchy and enslaving innocent Makaians.
Based off of his game counterpart, Mundus may be the most powerful demon in existence, and Sparda is the only one who can take him down. The only problem is that the show hints that Sparda is already dead. Maybe it will be up to his two sons, Dante and Vergil, to put an end to this evil monarch’s reign. Of course, this may happen in a future season, but they will both need to get much stronger before they can even face Mundus.
