While Peaky Blinders fans have had to grapple with the fan-favorite show’s impending end with the upcoming feature film conclusion, a new report suggests that the grief might have been just a bit premature.

Peaky Blinders has enjoyed critical acclaim throughout its six-season run on the BBC, treating viewers to a gritty, down-to-earth (albeit occasionally ahistorical) period crime drama with one of the strongest ensemble cast performances of any TV show in recent memory. Through the show’s different installments, fans get to follow Tommy Shelby through the trials and tribulations of his titular gang as it rises and falls on the strength of his guile and leadership. Arguably Cillian Murphy’s most iconic TV role, the show still had legs when it closed out its sixth season plotline, but things wouldn’t move forward as expected. Fans were disappointed but perplexed when they were informed that Peaky Blinders’ TV run would end with season 6 but continue in another form, with little else offered by way of clarification.

This mystery continuation was demystified when Peaky Blinders creator announced a full-length feature film to cap off the story. This gave fans of the show mixed feelings, as the television format had always done the series a great service. Fortunately, not all hope is lost for that section of the fanbase, as a recent report from BroadcastNow confirms that there’s still a chance that the show returns for a seventh season. According to the report, discussions are taking place between the BBC, Netflix, and series producer Banijay UK to potentially bring the show back for one more season (at least) following the movie. It also alleges that the new installment, if greenlit, could film as early as this year and would follow the principal cast in the 1950s, years after the events of the film (which revolve around the Second World War) are set to take place.

A seventh season would give the show a chance to bow out in its native medium with enough time and goodwill to close the book on that world, at least for the time being. There’s no doubt that there will also be behind-the-scenes discussions about the future of a potential Peaky Blinders franchise, with spinoffs and more potentially in view.

There won’t be any real news until things get officially confirmed and squared away, but that doesn’t mean fans won’t be seeing their favorites soon enough. While the powers that be mull over the viability of another season on Netflix, fans can still look forward to a climactic theatrical experience, which has now officially been titled The Immortal Man and confirmed to see the Shelbys play a role in the events of the Second World War. There’s little else by way of details about the project available, but now fans know that there’s a good chance it won’t be the end of the line for the most compelling criminal family in recent memory.

The Immortal Man is currently set to premiere theatrically in late 2025 before debuting on Netflix.
