You’re only as good as the company you keep.

Legendary gear comprises the best weapons and armour in AC Shadows, so collecting and equipping them can make your life a lot easier when facing enemies. Finding and equipping legendary gear in all your loadout slots will also earn you a couple of achievements/trophies along the way, so if you’re going for the platinum, this is something you’ll need to do at some point.

Where To Find Legendary Gear

Legendary gear in AC Shadows appears with a yellow outline in the inventory. As the name suggests, legendary items aren’t commonplace, but there are some specific areas where you’ll know they will be.

The main areas to find legendary gear items are castles, and if you go to the map and hover over a specific castle, you’ll see which specific legendary items you will earn by completing it.

It’s a similar story for side quests as well, as some of these do also reward you with gear and other items, some of which are legendary. Just like with castles, AC Shadows will let you know which items are rewarded before starting, so you won’t be shooting in the dark.

Keep in mind that only some side quests reward you with legendary gear items.

In castles, legendary items will be found in the main tower. When in doubt, look for the viewpoint associated with the castle and head there. You’ll see markers for chests on the compass at the top of the HUD. It’s best to start near the top of the tower and climb to the attic, as the chest with legendary items will usually be found there.

The chest markers won’t let you know whether they’re above or below you, but you will only be a floor or two away, as they only appear when you’re close. If you look in the correct direction towards them, you can see the chest in the distance.

You will have to defeat all of the Samurai Daisho in the castle to be able to unlock the chest with the legendary gear in it.

Which Legendary Gear To Look For

Which legendary gear you opt to find for these achievements/trophies is up to you, but here are some suggestions for which are the easiest and quickest to find and equip in AC Shadows.

Starting with Naoe, her primary and secondary weapons can be Shinobi’s Fury (Tanto) and Death Whisperer (Kusarigama). Shinobi’s Fury is acquired by defeating the Golden Teppo in the “Defensive Position” quest, while Death Whisperer is found by defeating The Wounded in the quest “Heads Will Roll”.

For Naoe’s Armour, the Tool Master Mask (headgear) can be found in Amagasaki Castle’s legendary chest, while the legendary light armour Peasant Clothes is located in the Osaka Castle’s legendary chest. Lastly, for Naoe, you can find the Amaterasu’s Blessing trinket in the Old Kofun legendary chest on the Izumi Coast.

For Yasuke, one of the easiest sets of legendary armour to obtain is the Elegant Samurai Hat, which can be located in Yama Camp’s legendary chest, while the Kanki Castle legendary chest contains the Samurai Daimyo Armour of Legend.

For Yasuke’s weapons, the Turquoise Zephyr (Long Katana) is located in the Eagle’s Nest legendary chest, and Patient Harbinger (Teppo) can be found in the Ado Rivery Valley legendary chest. Yasuke can also obtain his own Amaterasu’s Blessing Amulet, this time from completing the quest “A Prayer for Omi”.

All Types Of Legendary Gear

Before you equip a legendary gear item into every inventory, it’s best to have plenty of options to choose from by finding legendary gear of all types. Starting with armour, there are two types, light armour for Naoe and heavy armour for Yasuke.

There are eight types of legendary weapons, which include Katana, Tanto, and Kusarigama for Naoe, and Long Katana, Naginata, Kanabo, Bow, and Teppo for Yasuke. On the apparel side, Naoe can wear headgear and trinkets, with Yasuke sporting helmets and amulets.

Once you’ve obtained at least one legendary gear item of all of these 16 categories, the Limitless achievement will pop.

Which character you play as for castles and side quests is really up to you and what suits your playstyle better. If you want to sneak into the castle and steal the items without anybody noticing, Naoe is your best bet. However, if you want to show the guards who’s boss and go through them like a tank, Yasuke is your man.

Side quests vary from quest to quest, but when you’re travelling around the map, it’s generally easier to do so as Naoe because of her agile and fluid movements.

Advancing through the game’s story will also likely earn you legendary gear items of all types, but if you want to get ahead of the curve and make light work of your enemies in AC Shadows, this is one of the best ways to do it.

How To Equip Legendary Gear In All Slots

While you can, in theory, get legendary gear of all types as soon as you unlock free roam (shortly after the conclusion of the prologue), you’ll need to wait a little longer to get Better than the Bucket.

That’s because you’ll also need to fill the inventory slots for Yasuke, who you only unlock after completing the story’s first act. Plus, it’s worth levelling up a bit before tackling some of the castles around the map, as the Samurai in them can be very high level and one-hit kill even Yasuke if you’re not levelled up high enough.

Starting with Naoe, she has two weapon slots, a primary and secondary weapon, along with three armour slots for headgear, light armour, and trinkets. It’s effectively the same for Yasuke, although his headgear is classified as a helmet, and instead of trinkets, he wears amulets.

So, to get the Better than the Bucket bronze trophy, you’ll need to equip a legendary primary and secondary weapon to both Yasuke and Naoe, as well as legendary gear, such as armour, helmet, and amulet to Yasuke and legendary headgear, light armour, and trinket to Naoe.

If you equip legendary gear into all of Naoe’s inventory slots before unlocking Yasuke, this won’t trigger the achievement/trophy. You’ll need to wait until both characters are unlocked.
