Dragon Ball Daima: 7 Moments Taken From GT

Dragon Ball Daima appears to be taking some inspiration from GT.

This story tells the origin of the Saiyamans X-1 and X-1, the superhero alter-egos of Goten and Trunks. At one point in the story, Trunks goes to a museum filled with statues of Earth’s greatest heroes, some of whom fans of the series can recognize. Not all of them are references, but the ones that are feel wonderful indeed.

The Unnamed Heroes

There Are Others Who Protect The Earth

As Trunks and his classmates explore the museum, they see several statues depicting all kinds of heroes. A lot of them feel like references to Dragon Quest designs, particularly the only woman in the panel that looks roughly like Alena from Dragon Quest 4, and the hero from Dragon Quest 2 in the panel with Mr Satan.

Of particular note is the hero that looks like a reference to Batman. While not necessarily referencing anything from Dragon Ball, it does show that Gohan wasn’t the first costumed vigilante in the world, and in fact other people had a similar idea.

Kidomo

Bulma Wasn’t The Only One With Blue Hair

A few of the statues are of heroes of ages past, with some of them having been met by Goku in a filler arc of the anime. Said arc is the Other World Tournament, where Goku (dead at the time) participated in a tournament that involved the greatest heroes that ever lived.

This reference, on the one hand, shows that Kidomo was originally a hero from Earth, but he wasn’t that popular of a character to make the reveal meaningful. The real juicy bit is that, if Kidomo is canon in the manga, that means that Pikkon is as well, something very well-received by fans of that filler arc.

Olibu

The Hercules Of Dragon Ball

In a similar fashion to Kidomo, Olibu (or Oribu) hails from the Other World Tournament arc, but he is far more significant than any other hero. This is because he was King Kai’s best fighter before Goku came around, and the arc makes a big deal of how mighty of a hero Olibu was in his time.

Sonic and Dragon Ball have quite a lot in common.

This isn’t the first time Olibu has been referenced in media beyond that filler arc, but he was never mentioned in anything that can even remotely be considered ‘canon.’ The best part of Olibu’s statue is that it is prominently shown outside the museum, meaning that he really is a legend on Dragon Ball’s Earth.

Mr Satan

The Heroic Conman

Dead heroes aren’t the only ones that get immortalized in this museum, and while Olibu has the biggest statue outside, inside the building all the fanfare is reserved for Mr Satan. This unlikely hero is strong by human standards, but he pales in comparison to many of the heroes we know and love, and it is likely the same if we compare him to the other heroes showcased in the one shot.

Still, Mr Satan well deserves his spot, but not because of the time he took the credit for slaying Cell. His true colors were shown during the Buu saga, when not only he managed to befriend a being of demonic essence, he also rallied the world under one banner to aid Goku fire one of his finest Spirit Bombs of all time.

3

Great Saiyaman

The Golden Warrior

During his time in college, Gohan spent more and more time in the big city, and with it came dealing with the urban lifestyle and its dangers. While robbers and the like would never pose a threat to Gohan, he couldn’t let crime go unpunished, so he developed an alter-ego to face off against villains while maintaining his school life untouched.

This was the birth of the Great Saiyaman, a hero that deals with cosmic demons as well as stopping bank robbers. While no one knows that Gohan was this great hero, it is no wonder that he got immortalized in stone for his great deeds.

2

Mutaito

Roshi’s Master

Mutaito’s heroic tale trails back to the era of the original Dragon Ball and the first rampage of the Demon King Piccolo. The manga and the anime have slight alterations to how things went down, but in essence, Mutaito developed a technique to seal away the Demon King forever: the Evil Containment Wave.

Using the technique is highly effective, but it kills the user in the process, meaning that Mutaito sacrificed himself to usher in an era of peace for the world. His place in this hall of heroes is well deserved, even if his demonic enemy was released years later.

1

Goku

From His Early Days

Goku faceoff against Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z Kai.

Goku has saved the Earth plenty of times, far too many if you count the movies as well, but often the people of Earth are none the wiser. However, it seems that some knowledge of our beloved Saiyan got out, since he has a statue dedicated to his likeness, although without a name plate or a face.

Goku defeating Piccolo avenges Mutaito in a way, since Goku’s master, Roshi, was a disciple of Mutaito.

Well, the child-like appearance of the statue is a hint to what event it is referencing, and it is also related to the Demon King Piccolo. Liberated from his prison, Piccolo continued his rampage, only to be ultimately stopped by Goku in a very public fight.
