If you’re on the hunt for a new space exploration game, look no further than Everspace 2. With an in-depth loot system, great swathes of the cosmos to explore, and nail-biting interstellar combat, the 2023 spaceship shooter has spent the last couple of years going from strength to strength. Now, the latest DLC is finally right around the corner, and it’s set to expand the game even further.
Everspace 2 is what happens when the combat of Starfield and No Man’s Sky goes full tilt. You and your ship explore the demilitarized zone of Cluster 34 – a place packed with secrets, puzzles, and the next most dangerous fight of your life. You engage in cosmic dogfights that rely on a mixture of skill and preparation, with a loot system similar to Diablo and Borderlands helping you stay ahead of the curve.
Whether you’re a new or returning player, the imminent launch of Everspace 2’s Wrath of the Ancients DLC is reason to jump into a cockpit. Set after the main events of the space game, this expansion pits you against some old and alien enemies unlike any you’ll have faced so far. There are new star systems to explore, allies to find, and even more powerful weapons to install onto your ship. Speaking of, you can even get the Wraith Okkar ship class, with new equipment and gear, too.
If you haven’t beaten the game yet, though, don’t worry. The DLC will also include some mid-game sidequests to explore the Okkar civilization and homeworlds, so you can get a taste of what Wrath of the Ancients has to offer well in advance. Everspace 2 is about to get even bigger and better, turning it into one of the premier starship experiences you can have on Steam.
