Bosch: Legacy – Titus Welliver Reveals ‘Bosch Is Not A Murderer’

Bosch: Legacy - Titus Welliver Reveals 'Bosch Is Not A Murderer'

Summary

  • Fans love Bosch: Legacy despite Amazon’s abrupt cancelation and the cliffhanger involving a potential hit ordered by Harry Bosch.
  • Titus Welliver denies Bosch is a murderer, hinting at being set up by Preston, adding suspense to the final season.
  • Welliver’s strategic ambiguity and careful words about the show leave audiences unsure if Bosch actually ordered the hit or not.

Bosch: Legacy‘s final season is proving to be a huge hit with the fans, who are still dumbfounded by Amazon’s abrupt cancelation. The big cliffhanger at the end of Bosch: Legacy‘s second season saw Maddie Bosch intercepting a collect call from Preston Borders, who claimed he killed Kurt Dockweiler on Harry Bosch’s orders. The third season has continued to question whether Bosch would actually cross that line, but it still remains to be seen if he did. However, in a recent interview, Titus Welliver seemingly confirmed that the ex-LAPD detective wouldn’t actually commit murder in Bosch: Legacy.

Harry Bosch’s first appearance in Bosch: Legacy’s final season sees him meeting with an old CI called Curtis Dignan, who was in lock up with Preston Borders (Chris Browning), and it’s still unclear if he actually ordered the hit on Dockweiler. However, Bosch has gone significantly darker than in previous seasons, with his nicotine habit back in full swing, while also relying on alcohol to help him deal with his issues. Is Titus Welliver purposefully trying to misdirect the audience into believing Harry Bosch wouldn’t commit murder? Or, did the Harry Bosch star reveal a bit too much, and confirm that Preston Borders did actually set him up all along?

Titus Welliver has portrayed Harry Bosch for over a decade in Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, and he’s unveiled so many layers to Michael Connelly’s iconic character. ‘Everybody Counts or Nobody Counts‘ is the mantra Harry Bosch swears by, and he’s the advocate for the victim, and seeks justice in the right way. However, when his daughter, Maddie, was kidnapped by Kurt Dockweiler, all bets were off, and it was clear that Bosch was willing to operate in a ‘gray area’. Having said that, murder would be crossing a line, even for Harry Bosch, and Titus Welliver seemingly agrees. In an interview with TV Insider, Welliver talked about Bosch’s new case in Bosch: Legacy‘s final season and how it links to his mindset when Maddie was kidnapped:

The level of anger and intensity that this case provokes in Bosch is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. With the exception of when he went in to interrogate Dockweiler, the man who tried to bury his daughter Maddie alive. But Bosch is not a murderer, though this missing family case pushes him out of shape in a very big way.

There it is, Titus Welliver confirms that Harry Bosch isn’t a murderer after all, and he was 100% set up by Preston Borders. In Bosch: Legacy‘s fifth episode, Bosch told Maddie he wanted to punish Kurt Dockweiler, without actually crossing a line and sanctioning a hit on him. Case solved, rest easy: Or is it really that straightforward?

Harry Bosch Could Have Actually Ordered The Hit ONnKurt Dockweiler In Bosch: Legacy, With Titus Welliver Potentially Playing A Very Clever Game

One thing has become very clear during Bosch: Legacy‘s final season promotional tour: Titus Welliver is an extremely clever man who chooses his words very carefully. For instance, Welliver has supported the Save Bosch: Legacy petition, while also maintaining his good working relationship with Amazon. In addition to this, Welliver also kept audiences guessing about Harry Bosch’s potential involvement in Dockweiler’s murder in Bosch: Legacy. Welliver stated that Harry Bosch isn’t a murderer, but he also created reasonable doubt in the same interview with TV Insider:

To him, everybody counts or nobody counts. And that’s what, for a decade on our shows, has placed him at odds with people. But does he possess this kind of unbridled, primordial instinct to do things that he’s had taken an oath to not do as a police officer?

When Harry Bosch discovered the burner phone planted underneath his apartment, he informed Jimmy Robertson of his discovery, and all the evidence pointed towards Preston Borders framing him. However, with four episodes still to go in Bosch: Legacy‘s final season, is that really the case? Titus Welliver’s statement that Harry Bosch isn’t a murderer doesn’t actually mean anything. It simply reinforces the audience’s belief that Bosch wouldn’t cross that line, and if it turns out he did, it’ll be even more shocking.
