While the backward compatibility of the Switch 2 has already hinted at Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster being playable on Nintendo’s upcoming console, it would appear that the Switch successor will also get its own version of the game. That’s according to one newly emerged Play-Asia product page, which states that a Switch 2 version of the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster is getting a physical release.
Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster Could Be One of the More Affordable Switch 2 Launch Games
The game itself is listed as releasing on June 5, which would make it a Switch 2 launch title. Play-Asia is already accepting pre-orders for this technically unannounced version of Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster, which is priced at $34.99. That puts it on the lower end of the Switch 2 game price spectrum, which has already stirred some controversy among fans due to some titles reaching as high as $79.99 for digital and $89.99 for physical releases.
Konami hasn’t yet officially announced a physical release for the Switch 2 version of Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster. However, if Play-Asia’s newly shared listing is accurate, such an announcement is likely to emerge in a matter of days. As for the game itself, Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster launched to widespread critical acclaim, as highlighted by its “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, derived from an average score of 83 and an 86% recommendation rate. The compilation was widely praised for being authentic to the original SRPGs while simultaneously treating them to effective visual updates.
In terms of other third-party titles, the Switch 2 launch lineup is already confirmed to include Cyberpunk 2077, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Survival Kids. Ditto for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Split Fiction, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and Street Fighter 6. Another third-party heavy-hitter is coming to the Switch 2 later this year in the form of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. However, the new version of FromSoftware’s hit ARPG is still waiting for a concrete release date.
