There were a lot of rumours that the Ray Gun Mark 2 would be released in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, but we weren’t sure when it would happen. Well, finally, with the release of Season 3, it’s here! It’s introduced alongside the new Zombies map called Shattered Veil. If you’ve been trying to complete every Easter egg on every map, then you need to know how to get the Ray Gun Mark 2 and, of course, upgrade it to all its variants, as it is an essential step for the main Easter egg on Shattered Veil. This guide will go over how to upgrade to the Ray Gun Mark 2-P, which is the shotgun variant.
Obtain The Ray Gun Mark 2 And An Empty Canister
Before you can upgrade the Ray Gun Mark 2, you obviously need to get your hands on one. This can be done either by getting it from the Mystery Box if you’re lucky, or by following the steps in this guide to obtain it from the Armory.
The second thing you need to obtain is an Empty Canister, and there are three on the map that you can acquire.
- One is from the blue crystal that you can shoot using the Ray Gun Mark 2.
- One is from the pipe puzzle on the underground level.
- And one is from using the LT53 Kazimir grenade at the entrance below the Double Tap machine.
After you get your hands on the essentials, there is a process and a few additional items that you need to get your hands on before you can start the process of filling the canister.
How To Upgrade The Ray Gun Mark 2 Into The Shotgun Variant
How To Get An Essence Bomb
The first thing you need to do is obtain an Essence Bomb, which can be found randomly from one of the scattered white boxes around the map.
These boxes are everywhere and quite visible – near the spawn area, inside the mansion, and in the underground level.
All you have to do is destroy them, and you’ll either get the bomb you need or just some salvage. You might not get it from your first box and keep hunting them down.
These boxes seem to respawn after a while, so this should help increase your chances of getting the Essence Bomb quickly.
How To Find The Reflectors
The second item you need is two reflectors, which can be found in the following areas:
- The fountain just to the right of the Quick Revive machine.
- The fountain just outside of the PhD Flopper machine.
You may not see these immediately, but feel free to spam interact when you’re in front of one of the fountains.
Sometimes it can bug out, and your character won’t pick anything up, so try jumping and interacting to make it work.
How To Obtain The Light Canister
With these items in hand, head to the service tunnel and to the right side of the same wall where the Armor Vest upgrade is, you will see rock debris.
Interact with it, and you will be able to place the bomb here, which will break those rocks and reveal a secret room.
Make your way inside, and you will come across a round room with a statue in the middle. If you make your way to the end of the room, you will find the canister machine.
Place the empty canister here, which will cause a beam to come out of the source crystal in the middle.
Now, you need to complete a light puzzle where you will need to place the reflectors to line them up so that they hit the Doppelghast statues inside the room, which will spawn one if hit.
You need to repeat this process three times before you can claim back the canister.
Go to where the light is pointing and place the first reflector. Then, place the second reflector just to the left of the canister machine. This will light the first statue, and you need to melee the crystal source to send the light through the laser and toward the statue.
This will spawn the first Doppelghast, and you need to defeat it before moving on to the next one.
Punch the first reflector to change its direction, then go pick up the second reflector from the second location near the machine and place it at the top where the light ends. There will be a small hallway that will take you there.
Once you reach it, melee it, and the beam will align, which will hit the second statue. Do the same as before by meleeing the crystal source, and this will spawn the second Doppelghast. Defeat this one.
Return and pick up the second reflector and place it back in its original position. Melee the first reflector once or twice until it reaches the third statue. After that, melee the crystal source so the energy beam will reach the third and final statue.
This time, a special Doppelghast version will appear, slightly stronger than the previous two, so you need to be careful.
You can use the statue in the middle in order to give you some cover if you need it.
After defeating it, head back to the canister machine and pick up the Light Canister.
With this, head back to the west side of the mansion where you will find a workbench in the director’s quarter. Place the Light Canister here, which will activate the workbench and make it ready for us.
Now, you will be able to upgrade the Ray Gun Mark 2 to its P variant, the shotgun version.
