Where To Find Every Training Manual In Atomfall

Atomfall gives you plenty of skills to learn. These can improve your ranged and melee combat, your crafting abilities, your stealthiness, and other important gameplay elements. However, since there’s no real experience point system, you can only learn new skills by finding books called Training Manuals.

There are 8 different Training Manuals that you can find scattered around the quarantine zone. To make life easier, this guide will show you where to find them all.

How To Learn New Skills In Atomfall

Before you can unlock skills, you need to find special items called Training Stimulants. When picked up, these will grant you skill points that can be spent in the Skills section of the in-game menu. They can typically be found in yellow B.A.R.D. Crates, or they will be rewarded to you for completing certain quests.

There are four types of skills in Atomfall: Ranged Combat, Melee Combat, Survival, and Conditioning. Each type of skill has three skill trees. When you start the game, only one skill tree per skill type will be available for you to learn. The rest will be question marks and require you to find Training Manuals to unlock them.

Firearms Mastery Manual

This manual can be found inside Skethermoor Prison, which is an area you’ll go later in the game. It’s where you can rescue a character named Dr. Garrow, who was imprisoned by The Protocol. She’ll be down in the Loading Bay in a solitary cell. To release her from jail, you’ll need to get into the Master Control Room using a Signal Redirector. You can find the Redirector in the Security Room close to her cell, and nearby will be the Security Keycard. Before you get into the Master Control Room, you can enter the Electric B Room with the keycard. Inside will be the Firearms Mastery Manual.

You can also barter for the manual with Corporal “Bootsy” Hughes, who is stationed at a trading post in Skethermoor. He’ll be at the coordinates 36.3 E, 76.2 N.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Firearms Stability: Reduces weapon fire recoil.
• Firearms Handling: Reduces firearm sway when aiming down sights.
• Firearms Focus: Increases firearm damage when your heart rate is low.

Bow Mastery Manual

Inside the Druids’ Camp within Casterfell Woods will be a massive castle. Near its main entrance at the coordinates 19.5 E, 83.9 N will be the Bow Mastery Manual sitting on a wooden crate.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Draw Speed: Increases bow draw speed.
• Draw Control: Heart rate no longer has an impact on draw duration for bows.
• Bow Focus: Press L3 while the bow is fully drawn to briefly slow time.

Where To Find Every Melee Combat Training Manual In Atomfall

Stealth Manual

In Casterfell Woods, there is a mansion known as Datlow Hall that can be found at the coordinates 26.2 E, 85.4 N. You can begin the Datlow Hall Lead there, which will require you to find a man named Jenks for a woman named Prudence Rook. If you finish this side quest, you’ll get the Conservatory Key, which you can use to unlock the conservatory on the side of the estate. Inside, you will find the Stealth Manual among other goodies.

Or you can trade with Molly Jowett in Slatten Dale at the coordinates 26.4 E, 79.1 N, who will have this manual among her goods for trade.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Quiet Takedown: Takedowns create less noise.
• Quiet Movement: Reduces the sound of your footsteps, making it more difficult for enemies to hear you.
• Surprise Attack: Deal more damage to unaware enemies.

Melee Combat Manual

The Outlaw Cave can be found at the coordinates 24.4 E, 75.3 N in Slatten Dale. Explore the cave and kill the outlaws inside to find the Melee Combat Manual sitting on a crate. Watch out for the tripwire trap just before it or you’ll get toasted by a molotov cocktail.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Melee Weapon Attack Power: Increases damage caused by melee weapons.
• Seasoned Brawler: Substantially reduces the heart rate cost of melee attacks.
• Heavy Melee Attack Power: Increases damage caused by Heavy Melee attacks.

Where To Find Every Survival Training Manual In Atomfall

Crafting Manual

This manual requires the most legwork out of all the other manuals. The first way you can get it is by powering up Data Store Delta with an Atomic Battery inside The Interchange. Once that’s done, you can then attempt to unlock the store room below. Unfortunately, the lower level of Delta will be flooded and electrified. You’ll need to jump across the computer servers to reach a platform with a dead Interchange scientist on it. You can then loot the body for the Data Store D Store Room Key, head down to the store room, and open it to get the Crafting Manual.

The other way of getting this manual requires you to go through the St. Katherine’s Church Lead. This involves solving a murder that occurs in the church. By going to the Brewery Cellar located at the coordinates 30.5 E, 80.5 N in Wyndham Village, you can find notes that reveal that the murderer is the owner of the Village Shop, Morris Wick. You can then confront Morris about the murder, and he’ll beg you not to report him to The Protocol. You can then bargain with him to keep his murdering ways a secret in exchange for the Crafting Manual.

If you kill Morris, you won’t be able to loot the Crafting Manual off of his body. Letting him get away with murder is the only way to get the manual from him.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Crafting Speed: Crafting time is substantially reduced.
• Deep Pockets: Carry more crafting supplies and ammo.
• Gunsmith: Unlocks recipes to craft upgraded weapons.

Consumables Manual

This manual can be a reward for completing The Bakery Lead in Wyndham Village. This involves helping Iris Baxter and her husband, Phillip, who is sick with infection. If you don’t feel like being a goody two-shoes, you can skip right to the end of this side quest by killing Iris, looting the Bakery Bedroom Key off of her corpse, going upstairs to the bedroom, and killing her husband. You’ll then find the Consumables Manual on the desk.

Or if you don’t want to be a murderer, you can find Billy Gorse in Casterfell Woods at the coordinates 21.5 E, 89.6 N and barter with him for the manual instead.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Blue Fingers: Harvest young spores from heavily infected sources.
• Buff Duration: Effects from consumables last longer.
• Gut Health: Food consumables also grant a damage resistance buff.

Where To Find Every Conditioning Training Manual In Atomfall

Resistances Manual

If you recover the Church Cellar Key from inside the Medical department of The Interchange, you’ll find an infected scientist named Dr. Holder living underneath St. Katherine’s Church in the cellar. If you want to advance his questline to get his ending, you’ll need to take the keycard that he gives you back to Medical and head down to the Auditorium to retrieve Sample One. However, if you go to the area behind Sample One, the Resistances Manual will be sitting on a crate just before you exit out into the Medical Tunnels.

This manual unlocks these skills:

• Burn Resistance: Provides resistance to all sources of Burn.
• Bleed Resistance: Provides resistance to all sources of Bleed.
• Poison Resistance: Provides resistance to all sources of Poison.

Experimental Inoculation

The last manual isn’t actually a manual. It also requires you to find the Church Cellar Key and go to Dr. Holder in the St. Katherine’s Church cellar. Once you’re down there, you can find the Experimental Inoculation sitting on his desk. Use it, and you’ll automatically learn the Infection Resistance skill, which gives you resistance to anything that causes infection build-up.

In addition to that, the inoculation also unlocks these skills:

• Radiation Resistance: Provides resistance to all sources of Radiation.
• Healing Boost: Healing consumables restore more health over time.
