The Assassin is the quickest of these classes, and is great for players who like fast, combo-driven gameplay. If you like the idea of wearing down your foes with rapid, unrelenting strikes, the Assassin is the class for you.

Recommended Traits
Assassins may not hit quite as hard as their taller, burlier brethren, but they make up for it by hitting multiple times when a Sellsword or Knight would only be able to strike once or twice. Even an Assassin’s Heavy Attacks are comparatively quick, so you should choose Traits that let you make the most of this. The best way to do that is by focusing on getting as many Critical Strikes as possible.
Whenever you have Trait Points available as an Assassin, it’s hard to go wrong with taking levels in Critical Strike Rate Increase. This is available at most tiers of the Attack Trait Tree, so until you’re very high level, you’ll always have the opportunity to increase this stat.
Since Assassins make more attacks during combat than anyone else, having a high Critical Strike Rate gives them more opportunities to score massive damage. Once you’re at the point where every single combo reliably has at least one Critical Strike (and likely more), you’ll quickly outpace the other classes when it comes to DPS.
While you’re at it, be sure to put some points into Critical Strike Damage as well. Even a few Trait Points can add up quickly, as each one boosts your Critical Strike Damage by ten percent.
We recommend putting one Trait Point into Critical Strike Damage for every five points you put into Critical Strike Rate.
Skill Combinations
Assassins have a lot of different options when it comes to choosing their Skills. Try some of these builds for maximum damage and efficiency.
Ambush, Ignite Weapons, Agile Movement
You’ll need to do some leveling before you can unlock everything you need for this build, but it offers unparalleled opportunities for the Assassin to do what they do best. Start off the fight with Ignite Weapon to get some extra Burn Damage into play, ideally alongside additional Attack Power and/or Critical Strike Damage from Reforging.
Next, use Ambush to damage and Stun your target, then immediately pop Agile Movement before unleashing your favorite combo on them until they drop.
Poison, Turning Kick
This one-two combo is great against both groups and single opponents, and even leaves a Skill slot open so that you can pick a third ability that complements your style. For best results, make sure that you have the Reforge Effect Skull Bash from Turning Kick active.
Start the fight by activating Poison, so that your attacks will inflict the status effect on anyone they hit. Make sure to hit every foe in melee range at least once, so that they’re all poisoned, then unleash Turning Kick to smash them all with increased damage from Skull Bash.
If you’re playing with friends, Retreat and Agile Movement both have Reforge Effects that can help allies, making them great picks to go alongside this combo.
Default Skills
On defense, Assassins rely on Evasion much more than any other form of defense. It’s a good idea to put some levels into Evasion Attack and Sprint Attack so that you can keep the damage coming even as you shuffle around the battlefield to avoid taking hits.
Sneak Attacks are fun, but you don’t need to rely on them as an Assassin; use them to put heavy damage on an opponent before finishing them off face-to-face, rather than putting a bunch of resources into leveling up your Sneak Attack and hoping to one-shot everyone before they notice you.
We recommend picking your favorite Strike Combo and leveling it up as much as you can. It will help you get into a routine in combat, and using the same optimized Strike Combo every time means you can get the most out of its damage bonus.
