Tarnished Edition Includes A Dark Souls 2 Character's Armor Set

Summary

  • Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025, which includes new armor sets and a Torrent customization feature.
  • One of these armor sets should be very familiar to Dark Souls 2 fans, as players will be able to dress themselves in what appears to be Lucatiel’s armor.
  • After all these year, we haven’t forgotten you Lucatiel.

Elden Ring has been and gone for quite a while now, with most people looking forward to the upcoming release of Elden Ring: Nightreign. For those who have only ever owned a Nintendo Switch though, Elden Ring may be one of those games that they’ve never experienced, so Nintendo and FromSoftware are attempting to remedy this with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which was announced during today’s Switch 2 Direct.

It will launch at some point in 2025, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, and includes the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion on top of that too. To make this edition of the game even more special though, FromSoftware has gone one step further and added a cool new feature and a couple of new armor sets, and one of them should be very familiar to Dark Souls 2 fans.

Close Enough, Welcome Back Lucatiel

You can see the two armor sets in a tweet from the Elden Ring Twitter account earlier today, one of which has a very familiar tricorn hat, some red trousers, a cotton shirt, and brown gloves. It’s relatively unassuming at first glance, but long-time FromSoftware fans will notice that this looks identical to the armor that Lucatiel wears in Dark Souls 2 (a picture of which is embedded above).

Lucatiel in Dark Souls 2

Suffering from a curse, Lucatiel is first encountered in No Man’s Wharf, as she’s on her way to Drangleic in hopes of finding a cure. It’s this curse that causes her to worry about losing her memory, and whether anyone will remember her when she turns Hollow. She’s one of the more friendly and popular characters in the game, and can be summoned for a few boss fights too.

With her armor set to be added to Elden Ring in the near future, we can now take a piece of Lucatiel with us on a whole new adventure, making truly sure that we never forget her. Very wholesome stuff.

Thankfully for all you other console owners, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition’s new content isn’t exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. You’ll be able to grab the new armor sets and the Torrent customization feature as “additional downloadable content” for other platforms, though FromSoftware hasn’t stated whether you’ll need to pay for them.
