Monster Hunter Wilds patch notes have arrived for Title Update 1, allowing us to take a closer look at some of the more individual tweaks for Capcom’s first post-launch overhaul. Alongside the arrival of Mizutsune and a high-rank version of its climactic story boss, TU1 includes a few notable changes to weapons. In particular, the team has squashed a few frustrations for Hunting Horn, LBG, and Bow users while also giving you easier ways to access your inventory stockpile.
With the first Monster Hunter Wilds update fast approaching, Capcom has released a full set of patch notes covering all the major changes to its massive RPG. Of course, we already knew about many of the big introductions, including the first addition to the roster of Monster Hunter Wilds monsters. However, there are also some notable weapon adjustments to dig through, including a few bug fixes for potentially serious problems.

Upon reaching HR 21, you’ll now find a mission in the Scarlet Forest base camp that allows you to unlock the fight with Mizutsune. Complete this and you’ll also find Tempered Mizutsune out in the wild once you’re at least HR 41. At HR 50, a new story mission will unlock that will provide the conclusive high-rank fight with Zoh Shia that we’ve all been waiting for. Both of these encounters will come with full weapon and armor sets, and the upgrade limit on armor of rarity five and higher has been raised.
Alongside this comes Arena Quests and The Grand Hub, a new adaptation of the gathering hubs in previous entries. You’ll now get free meal vouchers and at least one barrel bowling voucher to compete in the new hub activity as part of your daily login bonus. Resting now costs more guild points than before, but you’ll earn more per Investigation. You can also adjust Alma’s outfit in camp, with new clothes being just one part of the upcoming Festival of Accord, which will run from Wednesday April 23 through Tuesday May 6.
Weapon-wise, several annoying bugs have been fixed. The Hunting Horn will no longer run into an issue causing multi-button inputs to not register correctly, which could easily mess up your songs or offset attacks. The Lance will have an easier time landing thrust attack finishers from focus strikes that cause large knockback. Hammers can now correctly use focus strikes quickly when they stop after moving mid-charge.
For ranged weapons, a bug preventing sneak attacks from being canceled is gone. Light Bowgun’s Wyvernblast mines won’t react to attacks from your Palico. The Bow’s Dragon Piercer has been made less damaging, but the damage of Thousand Dragons is now higher (including when using Close-Range or Power Coatings). Additionally, elemental values on Power Volley have been increased, and both Power Shot and Power Volley benefit from the effects of the Charge Master skill.
Along with the previously discussed nerf to the Corrupted Mantle come some buffs for its counterparts. The Rocksteady Mantle gains additional damage mitigation, helping you tank through even more hits, while both the Mending and Evasion Mantles now have longer durations.
There are a few other welcome tweaks to pick out among the remaining patch notes. Capcom notes that it has increased “the distance between the monster and camera” for certain opponents, such as the notorious Gore Magala, which should help you better keep track of what’s going on. There are new pop-up camp gear options, and a new ‘transfer items’ option from the Provisions Stockpile allows you to restock outside of the tent.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 release times are Thursday April 3 at 8pm PT / 11pm ET (Friday April 4 at 4am BST / 5am CEST). Expect the update to clock in at roughly 6GB on Steam, or 16GB total if you are using the High Resolution Texture Pack. Capcom also says it has made improvements to VRAM usage and upgraded the game’s DirectStorage version, although it remains to be seen whether that will result in any notable performance improvements.
For now, take a look through the best Monster Hunter Wilds weapons to find your new favorite, and craft the best Monster Hunter Wilds armor to complement it.
