Marvel Rivals Season 2 Start Date and Characters Confirmed

Marvel Rivals has just confirmed the start date for Season 2, along with its first new playable character. Ever since it went live in December, Marvel Rivals has been a big success among online hero shooter fans. Featuring a large and diverse pool of playable characters that grows with frequent updates, Marvel Rivals garnered a large player base during its initial Season, which was centered around the villainous Doctor Doom.

There has been plenty of rumor and speculation about where Marvel Rivals will go in Season 2, especially when it comes to new playable characters. Many of these leaks and rumors have hinted that Marvel Rivals Season 2 will be centered around the mutant homeland of Krakoa and feature an event themed after the annual Hellfire Gala. Fans have been asking for more X-Men characters like Gambit and Emma Frost since before Marvel Rivals launched, and now it seems like at least one of them is making their debut in the upcoming second season.

Marvel Rivals recently posted a new Season 2 trailer that confirms the new season’s start date and initial theme. Sure enough, the first new event will take place on April 11 and be themed after the Hellfire Gala, with Emma Frost herself inviting players to partake in the festivities in Krakoa. Various other Marvel Rivals characters are seen attending the party in formal outfits, though the fun is soon halted by the arrival of Ultron. The mechanical villain has brought an army of drones with him, turning what was once a friendly gathering into a battle for survival for mutant and non-mutant alike.

It isn’t clear if Ultron is another playable character or just an enemy for players to defeat, but his involvement in Marvel Rivals has been hinted at for some time. A Hot Topic shirt even leaked his Marvel Rivals design before his official confirmation. As for Emma Frost, the White Queen of the Hellfire Club has been rumored to be a future Marvel Rivals character throughout Season 1, with fans even creating hypothetical designs for the powerful telepath.

Now Emma Frost and Ultron have been officially confirmed for Marvel Rivals as part of the game’s new season, which is set to begin just as soon as the old one ends on April 11. For now, it seems that Ultron could be the overarching villain of Marvel Rivals Season 2, though more details will likely be revealed ahead of the Hellfire Gaia event next week.
