Rita Tedesco is hiding out after Preston Borders’ botched escape mission, as news breaks of his death on television. Meanwhile, Bosch finds a planted burner phone under his apartment, and sends a picture of it to Jimmy Robertson, before ringing him to suggest they have a drink sometime and a chat about clearing his name.

Perry Lopez during the Preston Borders shootout

Maddie is interviewed by Internal Affairs about the call she received from Preston Borders, and gets an unexpected visit from Bosch at the station, and he reveals that he asked an old CI, Curtis Dignan, to make Kurt Dockweiler’s prison life as miserable as possible, and when Preston Borders got wind of it all, he killed Maddie’s kidnapper, and tried to frame Bosch. Elsewhere, Robertson and Lopez decide to use their forced time off to follow up a lead, after hearing that DA Archer plans to drag his heels on clearing Bosch until after the election. What Happened To Jimmy Robertson At The End Of Bosch: Legacy Season 3’s Fifth Episode?

Despite the police department’s insistence that the Gallagher family are missing, Bosch thinks they’ve most likely come to harm. After all, Sheila found financial discrepancies in the company, and told Gallagher about it. Bosch and Mo ‘Maurice’ Bassi figure that Finbar McShane was confronted by Gallagher, and he had to make him and his whole family disappear, in order to concoct a plan to frame him. The ‘blankie’ discovered in Bosch: Legacy episode 3 was proof that the family had been taken from the cabin, but probably killed somewhere else nearby. Bosch pays a visit to Bing to follow up a lead about a BaCo truck he bought from McShane that might have been used to dig the hole for the Gallagher families to be buried in. The BaCo was scrubbed clean, but it did have a tracker in it, and Bosch and Mo use a drone to track its location, and they discover the bodies of the Gallagher family.

Chris Browning as Preston Borders

Elsewhere, Chandler wins the campaign to become District Attorney of Los Angeles, and Maddie and Vasquez close in on the suspects in the follow home robberies, and, it turns out, Albert is Vasquez’s cousin, which was revealed by Bosch: Legacy‘s showrunner months ago. However, vasquez is still unaware of Albert’s involvement at this time. Robertson meets with Scott Anderson to leak the outcome of their investigation into Harry Bosch’s possible involvement with Preston Borders in the Dockweiler murder. Robertson meets Bosch for a drink and tell him he’s leaked the case notes to Anderson, and also asks him about the nature of his links to Curtis Dignan. The episode ends with Robertson ordering food from a stand, when a masked man turns up to rob the cashier. After doing so, he points a gun at Robertson’s head before shooting him.
