Adult animated comedy South Park will be back on Comedy Central when Season 27 premieres on Wednesday, July 9. South Park Season 26 aired in 2023 for a six-episode stretch, with fans having to get by on Paramount+ specials ever since.
Three South Park Paramount+ specials have aired since Season 26 of the show wrapped in 2023. Joining the Panderverse tackled identity politics, Disney, and the multiverse, while Not Suitable for Children targeted social media influencers. The End of Obesity, which aired in May 2024, satirized the ongoing Ozempic weight loss craze. Based on the Season 27 trailer, it seems as though the new South Park episodes will continue the trend of mocking modern-day society and trends.

The South Park Season 27 trailer confirms that the show is coming back on July 9, though it stopped short of revealing how many episodes the new season will feature. The trailer shows Randy Marsh developing a ketamine habit, the town of South Park in flames in a manner not unlike the LA fires, the Statue of Liberty being pulled down, Canada seemingly going to war with the US, and planes crashing in midair. The trailer also shows a sci-fi adventure that will bring back fan-favorite character Starvin’ Marvin and will apparently even feature P. Diddy. One scene features Kyle seemingly transforming into a turkey, so it doesn’t seem like the new season of South Park is going to shy away from the show’s typical absurdist humor.
When is South Park Season 27?
- South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9.
The return of Starvin’ Marvin is likely going to attract the attention of longtime South Park fans. The character first appeared in South Park‘s very first season and returned in Season 3 where he ended up leaving Earth to live with aliens called Marklars. Starvin’ Marvin’s appearances have been few and far between since then, which makes his appearance in the Season 27 trailer all the more exciting.
Fans of Trey Parker and Matt Stone can look forward to the new season of South Park on July 9. In the meantime, they will also want to take note of the new Trey Parker-directed theatrical comedy film produced by Parker, Stone, Kendrick Lamar, and Dave Free. The film, which is still untitled at the time of this writing, was recently pushed back to March 20, 2026, but hopefully it’s worth the wait. It marks the first time Parker has directed a theatrical release since Team America: World Police hit theaters all the way back in 2004.
