The unlockable characters of I Am Legion: Stand Survivors do a lot to shake up the gameplay formula. Each character beyond the first leans into a specific playstyle that helps to keep the game interesting throughout multiple gameplay loops. Unlocking them can present a challenge, especially before you start gaining talent upgrades.

All Characters And How To Unlock Them
Each of the characters has an achievement that unlocks them, along with a few level challenges that require you to use a specific character.
To progress beyond certain points, you’ll need to unlock all the characters and complete their challenges.
Some of the characters are unlocked through the normal course of play while a couple require you to play the game in a specific, unintuitive, way.

Additionally, each character has a specific family of Stands they gain bonuses from using. The family a Stand belongs to is indicated by a coloured ribbon in the bottom left corner of its icon. You’ll always want to fill out your first few slots with this family but can be more flexible with your remaining space.
The families aren’t always apparent without checking the tags or ingredients. Zhu Bajie fits visually with the beastmen the vampire uses and uses a bladed rake that would fit in with the bladed Stands of the Swordsman. The mythical pig’s actual synergy is with dancers.
How To Unlock Swordsman And Moon Goodness
These two have achievements in opposite stats but the strategies for unlocking them are the same. The Muscle’s Strength Growth ability at level three gives level-up rewards in both stats, and then you can pair that with stands that increase stat growth:
- Greatsword Guard gives physical attack over time.
- Mage Elder gives magic power over time.
- Pig gives a random distribution of both attributes, but is available earlier.
All three of these abilities will give faster growth if you can forge equipment with skill cooldown enchantments.
Other sources of these stats can also help you reach the 500 mark.
- Equipment can give you a large lump sum, especially at the end of a run if you reforge your best equipment to try and get more weapons.
- Some rare enchantments and door blessings will provide stat growth on kill.
- You can gain some extra attack or magic via the talent tree but only a small amount. You’re better off investing in the resources talents, letting you open more doors and forge equipment with larger stat boosts.
How To Unlock Fortune Cat and Zephyr
The Fortune Cat and Zephyr can be unlocked on the same run with an economy-focused build.
The easiest way to collect 10,000 gold is by stacking Salaryman stands and their evolutions.
- Salaryman gives gold over time, improved by your skill cooldown speed.
- Gambler gives additional money scaling to your attack speed.
- Financial Advisor grants interest on your saved gold, improved by skill cooldown.
Getting a two-star financial advisor and then not opening any doors will quickly pile up the interest until you reach 10,000.
The most efficient path to 180 percent movespeed is through equipment. A single set of red quality boots can get you there by itself. Without economy talents, you’ll need to stack blacksmiths to get enough ore by the end of the game. You can use the 10,000 gold you saved up to reroll items for a better chance at crafting boots.
How To Unlock The Vampire
The Vampire requires you to beat the second level of Lava Valley. While this is the only character that is unlocked naturally just by beating the levels, Lava Valley is the hardest area to complete. You’ll likely have the entire rest of the cast by the time you reach this point. This gives you more options for how to approach the level.
Fortune Cat is one of the better choices for the fight. They’ve got good ranged damage on their family stands and a strong endgame from their economy boosts.
- Engineers are the best at fighting retreats as their turrets continue to deal damage once you’ve fled out of range.
- Tycoon’s combination of stat growth and gold income ensures you’ll have all the door boons by the time the boss spawns.
- One Punch Master is a good damage dealer that you can easily pivot to from Financial Advisors once you need to swap from making money to dealing damage.
- Fortune Cat has stat scaling in both magic and physical damage so can adapt more easily than the swordsman or moon goodness.
The Zephyr is also a good candidate: the boss fight against the Phoenix is best handled with at least 160 percent movespeed due to its powerful diving attack.
