With every new expansion in Pokemon TCG Pocket, the meta shifts considerably, as new cards are introduced and old ones are left behind. One thing that has remained consistent, however, is the presence of ex Pokemon, which are typically stronger than a normal card, and are the centerpiece of most decks.

Alternative Cards
Some other cards to consider include Pokemon Communication, which greatly reduces the chance of decks using stage 2 cards from bricking. While Sprigatito can somewhat help remedy this, you may want to run at least one Communication for consistency. If you do, we recommend replacing one Red with it.
Additionally, Cyrus or Sabrina may be helpful to swap back in low-health Pokemon, especially non-ex cards that you aren’t able to one-shot with Meowscarada.
Meowscarada Deck Strategy
The core of this deck is Meowscarada, who has the attack Fighting Claws. Normally, this two-energy attack deals 60 damage, but against ex Pokemon, its damage is boosted by 70, for a total of 130 damage.
When paired with the Red Trainer Card, who adds an additional 20 damage against ex Pokemon, you can deal a whopping 150 damage with a single attack, which is enough to one-shot most ex cards in the game.
Leafeon ex is used as a secondary attacker against non-ex decks, as well as an Energy battery for Meowscarada, allowing it to get up and running extremely quickly. Leafeon can also be used as a wall when paired with Giant Cape to stall for a few turns, giving you time to draw into each stage of Meowscarada’s evolutions and get your board set up.
The rest of the deck is about what you’d expect. Poke Ball and Professor’s Research are staples that allow you to draw through your deck and get your Pokemon set up, while Erika is almost essential for Grass-type decks due to its strong heal. As mentioned before, Red stacks well with Meowscarada’s Fighting Claws, allowing it to deal 150 damage to ex Pokemon.
This is enough damage to one-shot both Darkrai ex and Giratina ex, two of the most popular cards to run in the current meta. Leafeon can be used to get past pesky Druddigon walls while keeping Meowscarada safe, then you’re free to instantly knock out the Darkrai or Giratina hiding behind.
Deck Matchups
As an anti-ex deck, the matchups here should be fairly obvious. Meowscarada performs exceptionally well against ex decks and stall decks like Giratina ex and Darkrai ex, but it stands almost no chance against non-ex decks like Marshadow and or Heatran.
While this deck does matchup great against decks using ex Pokemon, Fire-type decks that can get set up quickly like Moltres and Charizard ex almost always have the advantage due to Meowscarada and Leafeon’s weakness to Fire. These matchups aren’t unwinnable, but you’ll definitely need a bit of luck to pull through.
Overall, this deck is great if you’re still learning which decks perform well against certain meta staples, as the advantages and disadvantages are pretty clear-cut.
