EA Sports UFC 5 Update Adds Another New Fighter for April 2025

EA Sports UFC 5 Update Adds Another New Fighter for April 2025

Summary

  • EA Vancouver releases a new update for EA Sports UFC 5 on April 3.
  • Patch 1.21 adds Lightweight fighter Mauricio Ruffy and makes multiple gameplay changes and bug fixes.
  • Downtime for the newest EA Sports UFC 5 update will be 1 hour.

A new update for EA Sports UFC 5 is set to be deployed on April 3 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, adding another new fighter to the game’s roster while also making a handful of gameplay changes and bug fixes. EA Sports UFC 5 is approaching its second anniversary later this year, but developer EA Vancouver continues to release a steady stream of new content updates for fans to jump into.

While recent rumors suggest EA is in the process of revitalizing its popular boxing video game franchise, Fight Night, industry insiders have also claimed that EA Vancouver is currently developing EA Sports UFC 6. If both rumors turn out to be true, it could be a busy few years for fight fans. There’s no way to know which title could come first, but considering EA’s Fight Night series has reportedly been in and out of development for quite a few years now, there’s a strong chance that a new UFC game makes its way into players’ hands first. On average, new EA Sports UFC games are released every two to three years, and a recent leak claims the sixth entry is aiming to launch later this year.

Steel City releases the full patch notes for the highly anticipated Undisputed update, which will introduce new fighter changes and improvements.

EA has once again continued to stay true to its word and will once again be releasing a new update for EA Sports UFC 5, adding another ranked fighter to the game’s roster. While fans initially complained that EA Sports UFC 5 was lacking in terms of ranked fighters, a steady stream of new updates has brought the game to almost 100% parity with the current UFC top ten rankings. The latest fighter to join the game is Mauricio Ruffy, a Lightweight fighter who recently defeated Bobby Green by KO in the opening round. The 28-year-old has already made a name for himself in the UFC, fighting three times under the promotion since his debut in 2024. Now fans will be able to play as the knockout artist in UFC 5.

According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, EA Sports UFC 5 will also be adding new alter egos to the game on April 8, but details on who these alter egos will be for are currently unknown. The change log also details some important gameplay changes and bug fixes, including an issue that was causing TJ Dillashaw’s Signature Forward Lunge and Major Forward Lunge inputs to be swapped. Patch 1.21 also fixes some rare camera issues and crash triggers.

While the popular mixed martial arts title is likely approaching the end of its life cycle, EA Sports UFC 5 received a massive player resurgence recently, thanks to its debut on PlayStation Plus. The title was added to Sony’s lucrative subscription service back in March, and new data quickly showed that it had received a 127.3% player count increase after being added to the service. This puts EA Sports UFC 5 as the second most popular game on PS Plus, only being beaten by the critically acclaimed God of War Ragnarok, which was added to the service in January.
