The seventh episode of Daredevil: Born Again has officially aired and as is usually the case there were plenty of Easter eggs, big and small. Some of those were more obvious than others and others were hints at things that happened in the comics. Others brought things in the real world into Daredevil: Born Again.
One of the most interesting parts of this particular episode is that Daredevil: Born Again “Art for Art’s Sake” doesn’t actually bring out the huge Easter eggs. They are scattered throughout the show, but there’s no mention of Ms. Marvel like there was in Episode 5. There isn’t a mention of Miles’ Morales’ dad, like in Episode 3. Of course, what makes an Easter egg hunt fun is when they are well hidden. And there were some that were definitely some that were hidden quite well. Of course there was one that seems like it was out there for the entire world to see and people might have missed it completely.

One Mural Appears To Feature A Certain Vampire
Muse has put up several different murals throughout Daredevil: Born Again that feature themes or characters in the series. Most of those murals have called back to people or ideas the audience has already seen. However, there is one mural that is different. It’s a mural of a man screaming or wincing in pain but that’s not what grabs the attention. It’s the appearance of the man. With his mouth wide open, it certainly looks like he’s got jagged, pointed teeth.

The man in the mural also looks like he might have a bit of a snubbed nose. In short, it looks possible that this mural is of a Marvel character that hasn’t appeared, or even really been hinted at in the MCU. Is it possible this mural is of Morbius? Obviously this isn’t about hitting that a character is coming as that hasn’t even been hinted at as a possibility, but assuming that’s who this is, it could certainly be a cool nod to a character who is well known to be in and around New York plenty of times, featured in Spider-Man and Daredevil comics often.
The Necklace Scene In Daredevil: Born Again
Matt Murdock’s Necklace Makes Another Appearance
Early in “Art for Art’s Sake” Matt Murdock is shown showering shortly after his first fight with Muse. Because there aren’t many topless scenes with Matt, a necklace is revealed for the first time since the original series. Obviously, because he’s Catholic, it’s hard to know if this is an actual callback. However it doesn’t feel as if this show does anything by accident. That he’s shown wearing that necklace, while he’s clearly reflecting on what just happened and what he just did, is meant to feel heavy.
However, it looks like the necklace is the same one he was given by Sister Maggie. At first, it’s thought she is simply someone who is an ally. Someone who agrees with what he’s doing when it becomes clear that he has special powers and has been fighting crime in Hell’s Kitchen. Later in Season 3 of Daredevil, it’s revealed that Sister Maggie is actually his mother, who had a mental breakdown soon after he was born and turned to the church in order to get her life together.
Buck Brings His Old Life To Daredevil: Born Again
Buck’s Alter Ego Is Bullet In Marvel Comics
When it becomes clear that Matt Murdock has decided to put his costume back on in Daredevil: Born Again, Wilson Fisk’s people realize he’s not going to be happy to hear about it. During the conversation that follows the news, Fisk goes on a rant about why he hates Daredevil so much. He talks about the vigilante taking down his entire criminal enterprise and the “blue collar billionaires” he helped create.
During that speech, he brings it around to how he hired Buck, and it becomes clear that “his other life” isn’t going to be detailed. However, when he mentions Buck’s other life, what he’s talking about is that in Marvel Comics, Buck Cashman’s alter ego was a Daredevil villain known as Bullet. The comic book character was a paid assassin who initially worked for the US government. It’s clear that the Daredevil: Born Again version of Buck isn’t worried about killing people, so he could certainly be a former killer for the military. It’s also not a shock that they aren’t making him play his other character, considering that the Disney+ show already has a villain named Bullseye.
