The return of Rauru’s spirit is one of Tears of the Kingdom’s biggest surprises, but another sage deserves more attention too.
Nintendo announced that Tears of the Kingdom will receive five new amiibo. The five will be the sages of Tears of the Kingdom who support Link on his journey, namely Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, Sidon, and Mineru. The first four will arrive alongside the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch and its game upgrades, on June 5. Mineru, whose design is based upon her construct form and not how she appeared in the ancient past, will arrive at a later unannounced date.
What To Expect From New Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo
The new Tears of the Kingdom amiibo can be scanned into the game like their predecessors. Doing so unlocks items in-game, such as weapons, materials, and a fabric for Link’s paraglider. The exact details of what they will unlock have not yet been elaborated on. The pricing hasn’t yet been announced for the amiibo, but fans can likely expect the first four to cost about the same as normal, so roughly around $20-30 USD, but Mineru’s amiibo appears to be oversized, so it will likely cost a bit more.
While Nintendo didn’t focus much on the amiibo capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2, it did confirm that the company is continuing to support and produce them. In addition to the Tears of the Kingdom amiibo, Street Fighter is getting its own amiibo to commemorate the release of Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2. A whopping three amiibo figurines and 22 amiibo cards will be released for the fighter, which will also release on launch day for the Switch 2. If the past is any indication, gamers should expect high demand for new amiibo, so pre-ordering may be the surest bet to secure the two series’ new amiibo.
