It’s been a turbulent few days for fans of both Baldur’s Gate 3 and Stardew Valley. First, the highly anticipated ‘Baldur’s Village’ mod, which brings the cast of BG3 to Pelican Town, was released to widespread acclaim. Then, Dungeons and Dragons owner Wizards of the Coast decided to issue a takedown notice on the project, leaving it in limbo. Everything has worked out since then, thankfully, with WotC saying the DMCA was a mistake and apologizing for the issue altogether. Now, the modding team behind Baldur’s Village has outlined what’s next for the mod, with multiple updates planned.
Baldur’s Village is by far the coolest Stardew Valley mod I’ve seen to date. It brings the party from Larian’s adventure into the realm of pixel art, introducing new stories, quests, locales, dialogue, and romance options to the farming game. All of your favorites are here in Stardew Valley: Wyll, Karlach, Shadowheart, Gale, and Astarion are unique NPCs, and you can even try to smooch the suave vampire.
The mod isn’t finished, however, and now that we know it’s safe, developer ‘Xun’ has detailed what’s coming next. “We would also like to share a brief update,” they says. “On the very day we received the takedown notice, we had just finalized Astarion’s Ten-heart event, which was scheduled for the next update. At the time, we were disheartened as we thought that this content might never reach the community.
“Fortunately, we are able to move forward. In the near future, we will be releasing a minor update that includes bug fixes and Astarion’s Ten Hearts event. Other planned content updates will also resume as scheduled.”
On top of wrapping Astarion’s narrative, the mod team has a Halsin romance storyline in the works. After that you can expect expanded world building, more background stories, alongside new gameplay features and items. Now that the mod is safe, I can’t wait to see what the team’s been cooking.
Baldur’s Village is available on Nexus Mods right now, just head right here.
