Summary

  • Dbrand is now taking reservations for its Killswitch Nintendo Switch 2 case.
  • The case is a Switch 2 version of the Killswitch cases it has created for the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.
  • Its Joy-Con cases detach, and there’s a transparent compartment to store your cartridges.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is about to get its full reveal. By the time you read this, it might have already happened. Dbrand got ahead of things a little though, revealing the Killswitch case for the Switch 2 it has been teasing for months and opening reservations for the third-party accessory.

Yes, dbrand is well aware of how ironic it is that it’s selling an accessory for the Switch 2 that’s called the Killswitch. That’s a little hard to avoid though since its new Switch 2 case is part of the Killswitch line it launched in 2022. Dbrand currently has Killswitch cases available for other handhelds, including the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, but this will be the first one it has made for a Nintendo product.

Everything We Expect To See At The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

We’re less than 24 hours away from the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Since reservations are now open, 30 minutes ahead of the Switch 2 Direct, the Killswitch for the Switch 2 doesn’t have a firm release date yet. Dbrand just notes it will be “available whenever the console launches”. If all goes to plan, that should mean the Switch 2 Killswitch case will have a release date within 90 minutes of reservations becoming available as that will be when the Direct ends.

To reserve a Killswitch for the Switch 2, you will need to pay $3. However, that $3 will be knocked off the final price once the cases are released.

Reservations Are Now Open For Dbrand’s Killswitch Switch 2 Case

Place Your Reservation And Settle In For The Direct

Even when the Switch 2 is in the Killswitch, the case has been designed so that its Joy-Con can still be detached. The cases for the Joy-Con will detach along with the controllers, which means no awkward fiddling taking them in and out of the cases when the console is docked, and then more fiddling as you put them back into their cases.

The Killswitch also comes with a dock adapter so that the Switch 2 is on display when docked. We don’t know much about Nintendo’s next console ahead of today’s Direct, but the initial reveal did show it sitting in a similar dock to the original Switch. That being one which all-but obscures the console from view when it’s docked.

The Switch 2’s Killswitch also has a built-in compartment attached to the case for your cartridges. The compartment is transparent which means you can see which games you have with you without having to open it up. As someone who owns a few Switch cases, all of which need you to not only open them to see the games inside, but remove the cartridges from their tiny pockets, the transparent compartment on the Killswitch is its biggest selling point, for me at least.

Killswitch For The Nintendo Switch 2

Dbrand has added a Nintendo Switch 2 case to its Killswitch collection. The case has been specifically created for the Switch 2 right down to its Joy-Con cases detaching and reattaching without needing to be removed from the Killswitch. It also has a transparent compartment so you can store your cartridges.

Dbrand has been teasing a Killswitch for the Switch 2 for a while and claims, even before reservations went live, more than 100,000 people have signed up for its waitlist. That could mean the first wave sells out before the Switch 2’s release date has even been revealed.
