Project are linked to the Animus in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but it’s unclear how to start them.

In turn, this could leave some confused about why certain missions aren’t available to them. You can find this in the quest called The Tournament. It’s leaving players bewildered about how to access it. If you’re stuck and can’t trigger the mission, this guide will walk you through all the steps.

This mission won’t be available to you until you’ve completed all the prerequisites needed, which is fairly simple when you know what needs to be done.

For The Tournament quest to appear in the game, you’ll need to have gotten all the main assassinations first. This means killing everyone in the main Shinbakufu circle.

Once you’ve gotten all the Shinbakufu group members, you should see a quest marker under your main hideout in the Izumi Settsu region. It’ll be located right under the Lost Hills and southeast of the Katano Foothills.

From there, you’ll meet a character named Gyoji. Upon interacting with him, you find out that he ran tournaments out of his temple in the past. The issue is that his temple has been taken over by tougher-than-nails warriors.

Both Yasuke and Naoe can participate in the challenge. But it’s a better idea to use Yaskue since he’s much more durable than his stealth-friendly counterpart.

After learning about what has happened, you can make your way to the Ominesanji Temple. It will be in the southeast region of Yamato, south of Yoshino and west of Mitarai Valley.

As you approach the temple, Gyoji should be marked and waiting for you to interact with him again. After talking to him, make your way to the bell directly across from the character. By interacting with the bell, you can start the fights.

You can take breaks between these fights to catch your breath. When you’re ready, simply ring the bell again.

There are five fights, and you’ll need to beat all of them to complete the quest. If you have gone up against Nobutsuna’s Student side quest, you can probably tell how hard these characters can be. The fighters in The Tournament mission are no exception.

Rewards For Completing The Tournament Quest

As mentioned, this quest is worthwhile for many things. You can learn how to fight better since each opponent has different weapons. However, it’s the rewards you get for downing each fighter that will make you want to finish the challenge.

The rewards you get on your playthrough may be different from the ones below. These are examples of what you can earn from fighting in the tournament. In any case, what you get will usually be high-quality and powerful gear.

  • Lady Masago – Aquatic Naginata of Swiftness (Epic Naginata for Yasuke)
  • Lord Suguru – Austere Katana of Elegance (Epic Long Katana for Yasuke), Ardent Bow of Wonder (Epic Bow for Yasuke)
  • Lord Hokuto – Toxic Kanabo of Power (Epic Kanabo for Yasuke)
  • Lady O – Sen – Vigilant Katana of Wounding (Epic Katana for Naoe)
  • Lord Unkai – Vengeful Foe (Legendary Naginata for Yasuke), Buildup After Parry (Engraving)

When you beat the five fighters, you’ll get a cut scene showing Gyoji filled with joy about your slaying of the invaders. After that, he’ll be on a cliff nearby. You’ll find it next to the viewpoint, immediately southwest of where the tournament is held.

By talking to Gyoji, he’ll be extremely grateful and tell you that more tournament challenges could happen. When they do, he’ll reach out to you again. You’ll also earn the Test Your Might trophy when you’re done talking to him.
