How To Play City Racers
Establish A Team And Collect Flags
As with most of the racing events in Monopoly Go these days, your first order of business in City Racers this month is deciding if you’re playing on a team or by yourself. There’s no right or wrong way to compete in the event, but just keep in mind that solo players are racing for smaller grand prizes than team racers, so keep your eyes on the prize when making your decision.
If you are teaming up, you’ll want to consider teaming up with the most active players on your friends list. Once the races have begun, you’re locked into competing with these three teammates for the duration of the event, but you can choose to leave your team before race one starts if you’re unhappy with the setup.
Other players can invite friends to the team, too, so keep this in mind when choosing friends to partner with. There’s no in-game communication between teammates, so it’s best to either choose people you know in real life or settle in with the more active players on your friends list. If they’ve usually got shields when you go to shut them down, they’re probably a good choice!
As you’re building your team and getting ready for the races to formally begin, you’ll want to collect City Racers flag tokens with the time leading up to the races (and over the weekend as well, to replenish what you spend playing).
You can earn free City Racers flags by:
- Participating in the banner events in the middle of your game screen right below your current cash total. These last a couple of days, so we’ll see a few throughout the course of the event. They have 62 milestones and tend to offer extra City Racers tokens for over a dozen of them.
- Competing in the daily leaderboard tournaments, pitting you against 99 other Monopoly Go players to compete for all sorts of prizes. In addition to the wealth of cash payments and free dice rolls you’ll accumulate during tournaments, you’ll earn extra City Racers tokens not only as milestone rewards, but for placing highly on the leaderboards, too.
- Finishing your daily quick wins every day during the event. Not only do you receive an influx of City Racers flags for each goal you complete, but finishing almost all of them each week also gives you a free purple sticker pack for your efforts.
- Grabbing your in-game shop rewards, the ones that refresh every eight hours and offer free event tokens in addition to extra dice rolls, cash, and the occasional sticker packs.
- Choosing extra City Racers tokens as a lap reward during the event when such an option is presented. Your team will work together to race, and set numbers of laps you complete offer a few potential prizes for you to pick from. Flags are a common offering as rewards here.
- Landing on spaces with flags on them as you roll your way around your Monopoly Go game boards this weekend. They’re only worth one token by default, but this scales as you increase your dice roll multiplier, offering that number of free flag tokens when you land there using a higher multiplier.
Compete In Three Races To Win Prizes
With tokens in hand, you’re ready to start spending your flag tokens to compete in City Racers! Choose a dice roll multiplier the same way you would on your normal Monopoly Go game boards and roll three dice at once to contribute to the score and move your team’s car around the racetrack. Look out for lucky rockets to ensure your team only rolls fours, fives, and sixes on their next turn!
The weekend’s event is broken down into three individual races, with one race happening each day beginning on April 3 and running through the end of the event on April 6. You’ll earn points in each race based on which place you finished, and the rewards for City Racers will be paid out on April 6 at the conclusion of the event.
The top prize for both team and solo players is the Champ board token, a racer in a victorious pose that will confidently strut around your game board, as well as a new emoji that features a race car burning rubber as it takes off at the start of the race. The final City Racers reward of note is a new chance at a Wild Sticker, letting you choose any sticker no matter its rarity to receive as a prize.

The final race of the event is worth double points, so if you notice you’re falling behind early in the event and can’t quite catch up to the other teams, it may be wise to save your flags for the next race instead of hoping to best the other teams this time around, especially with the third race being worth double the points!
