To build a home in InZOI, you will need to find an empty plot of land and have enough Meows to finance the project. Depending on how large you want your home to be, the Meow cost of making a home from scratch can quickly become very expensive, so if you are just starting out, consider making a small home instead of a large one.

The cities in InZOI don’t just have aesthetic differences, they also offer different jobs and activities.
Over time, you can expand your house with new rooms and floors, and even move to a new location if you outgrow the plot of land you started on – or if you just want a fresh start. This guide explains how to build a house in InZOI from the conceptual stage to the finishing touches, and explains how to relocate and move into a new home should you want to start over in a new location.
First, Open Build Mode
To open Build Mode and start customizing your house, click the Build Mode button on the bottom left of the screen. The icon looks like a house with a small hammer symbol next to it. This will open Build Mode, which automatically pans the camera to your Zoi’s current home.
Here, you will see several tabs for the different things you can decorate a house with, including:
- Building Presets, which is home to a small selection of pre-built homes you can place to get going in InZOI faster
- Building, which features the majority of foundation and exterior building materials, including walls, doors, windows, and room blueprints that can be placed to make the planning process easier
- Furniture, which contains everything you need to decorate the interior of your home, including beds, tables, sofas, bathroom features, appliances, and other decor to make your home habitable.
- Crafting, which lets players create custom furniture
- Inventory, which displays any home goods currently in your Zoi’s possession
For the purposes of building a house for the first time, we will primarily use the Building and Furniture sections of this customization menu. If you want to save some time, consider going with a building preset in the first tab, though these can cost more Meows than are given to players at the start of the game.
Familiarize yourself with the Build Mode interface, then start planning out the foundations and layout of your new home.
Plan The Layout & Rooms Of Your Home
After learning how to navigate the Build Mode menu, it’s time to start planning your home layout. InZOI players should use either the 3m wall to plan a one-floor building, or taller walls, such as the 4.8m or 5.7m walls, for buildings that will feature more than one floor.

Gyms are a great place for Zois to work out and level up their Fitness skill, and knowing where gyms are located in InZOI is the first step.
Click on a square on your empty lot to begin placing your first wall. Drag it to create a vertical surface across the span between two points, then click to confirm its placement. Continue to lay out the exterior walls of your home until you come back to the initial starting point. When your walls are fully enclosed, the flooring inside will turn blue.
Then, use more walls to plan out the individual rooms within your home. If you want the walls on the ground floor and upper floors to be different, opt for a shorter wall height than your exterior walls. You should have at least one bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, and an area for your Zoi to relax.
To customize walls on other floors, use the PgUp and PgDn inputs on your keyboard. You must have at least one corner where stairs can lead upwards that is not impeded by a wall on the upper floor.
Once you are satisfied with your layout, place doors for each room, stairs to lead to the upper floor (if applicable), and windows to let some light in. These can all be found within the Building tab of the Build Mode menu.
To undo your last action, press Ctrl-Z.
Customize Flooring, Wallpaper, & Roofing
Once you have figured out a good layout for your custom InZOI house, click on the walls, floors, and roof of your home to customize the appearance of each of these elements. With any of these features selected, click the paintbrush icon to open up the Customize Paint menu.

InZOI: How to Ask a Zoi to Move In with You
Players can ask other Zoi to move in with them after pursuing romantic relationships. Find out how in this guide.
Here, you will see a litany of options that cover everything from the color and texture of your walls and floors to special effects that you can associate with them, like reflective glass effects or even a small selection of videos.
You can customize the interior and exterior walls separately from each other. Customize interior wallpaper by clicking on the inside of your walls, and customize the look of your house from the outside by clicking on the wall from the outside of your home.
Roofing is a bit different. You must click and drag one of the four different roof types in InZOI while fully zoomed out of your house, or while viewing the roof floor with PgUp/PgDn. If you click on a roofing option, you will automatically be brought to the roofing view.
Select a roof type based on what you want your house to look like when viewed from the street, then click on a corner of the roof and drag it to the opposite, diagonal corner. Your selected roof will grow over the entire area, but beware – InZOI roofs can only be placed in a rectangular shape, so any diagonal walls may not be fully covered by your roof, or may have a large overhang.
Furnish Your Custom InZOI Home
After learning the Edit Mode tools, laying out your home and rooms, and customizing the appearance of your flooring, walls, and roof, it’s time to start the long process of interior design. Click on the Furniture tab of the Build Menu to see a full list of all InZOI furnishings available in several different categories:
- Bedroom furniture
- Living Room furniture
- Kitchen furniture
- Bathfroom furniture
- Home Office furniture
- Hobby furniture
- Outdoor furniture
- Social Event furniture
- Other furniture
Your Zoi needs to have a place to sleep, a place to relax, a place to cook food, and a place to relieve themselves. Home Office, Hobby, Outdoor, and Social Event furnishings are technically optional, but depending on what your Zoi wants to achieve in life, you may want to scroll through these sections to find objects they will enjoy or get use out of.

Find out which 10 careers in inZOI provide the highest daily wages, including legal, education, sports, and criminal options.
Typically, every Zoi needs their own bed, and you should have enough room between appliances to let Zois get past each other uninhibited if you plan to house more than one family member.
Spend some time perusing every piece of furniture in InZOI to find the pieces you need to finish turning this once-empty lot into your dream home – or, at least, your Zoi’s dream home.
Once you are finished editing your house, InZOI lets players save their customized house as a preset or upload it to the InZOI Canvas. Be sure to save your work once you’re done.
After this, make sure your Zoi is assigned to this home and not to another one, and you will be done making your first InZOI house! Though this concludes the basics of how to make a house in InZOI, you can continue to edit and make additions to your custom house as you see fit, as long as you have the Meows to afford expansion.
How To Move Your Home & Relocate In InZOI
If you are unsatisfied with your home layout or home location in the city you chose to settle in, you can always Relocate to a new location. You will get some money back from selling the plot of land (and home, if applicable) and can choose to either Store or Sell your existing furniture.
To do this, open up the map with the M key, then scroll through the available lots to find one that’s more suitable for your needs and Zoi’s preferences. Click on a location and you will see an option to Relocate Here. Click this, then choose whether to put all of your furniture into storage or to sell it.
If you sell it, you will get Meows back, but you’ll have to place down alternatives in the new place. It’s a good idea to store everything first, then sell items if you don’t end up using them in your new location.
Unfortunately, you cannot move completed home layouts directly to a new plot of land should you choose to move house. InZOI players must save their current house as a rebuild layout, or upload it to the Canvas and download it later, to be able to replicate your current home at the new location.
