If you want to pick up the Switch with a digital copy of Mario Kart World, you can snag a bundle for $499.99. This saves you $30 in the long run, as Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99 if you get it by itself.
When Can I Preorder the Switch 2?
Preorders for the Switch 2 will open on April 9, 2025. If you already have a Nintendo account, click on this link to go to Nintendo’s official website to get notified about Switch 2 preorders. However, the invitations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
How Much Are Nintendo Switch 2 Games?
Right now, it seems that a majority of Switch 2 titles will cost $79.99. It’s been confirmed that Mario Kart World will be $80 and Donkey Kong Bananza will be $70. Some games might even cost more if you purchase them physically.
Are GameCube Games Coming to Switch 2?
Yes! Kinda! If you own a Switch 2 and subscribe to the expansion pass tier for Switch Online, you can play the GameCube catalog. At launch, June 5, only three games will be available: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, SoulCalibur 2, and F-Zero GX. Other games will come post-launch, such as Pokemon Colosseum, Chibi Robo, and Luigi’s Mansion.

Can You Play Switch 1 Games on Switch 2?
With some exceptions, you can play most first-party Switch 1 games on the Switch 2. There are certain games that use the Switch 1 Joy-Con, like Ring Fit Adventure and the Nintendo Labo stuff. So, things like that won’t work. Some other third-party titles won’t work either, so be sure to look into your specific game if you’re not sure. However, some Switch 1 games will get Switch 2 Editions, which will basically be re-released physically and digitally with added content and/or improved visuals, frame rates, graphics boost, etc.
Upgrade Pack Price for Switch 2 Edition Games
So, if you own Breath of the Wild on the original Switch and want to play the Switch 2 Edition, you can do it for no extra charge if you’re an Expansion Pack subscriber. However, if you want to upgrade without being a member, you might have to pay around 10-20 dollars. It seems like it might be a game-by-game basis, depending on the amount of new content added, if any.
