Blizzard Entertainment has supposedly received several pitches for a brand-new StarCraft game from multiple Korean developers, in an attempt to revive the beloved science-fiction IP for modern gamers. That being said, the StarCraft franchise has been in the public eye recently, with StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection joining Xbox Game Pass alongside an announced crossover with the card game Hearthstone.
The first entry in the military series was released in 1998, paving the way for a rich media franchise spanning novelizations, a popular board game, and several follow-up video games. StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty harbored several iconic characters, including Sarah Kerrigan, Jim Raynor, and Artanis, and the successor was followed by Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops, before the remastered version was released in 2017.

One social media user responding to the news registered their interest in Embark Studios, which operates under Nexon, winning the rights to craft a new game. Blizzard fans were recently overjoyed to hear of BlizzCon’s return in 2026, after a hiatus in 2024 and 2025. The in-person event will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in September 2026, and the publisher is expected to hold smaller events in the interim, especially to celebrate World of Warcraft’s 30th anniversary. Since there’s quite a long wait for BlizzCon 2026 to roll around, Warcraft and Diablo fans can start creating their announcement wishlists early.
