If you’ve been diving into Arena Breakout Infinite since its launch last year, or you’ve been looking for an excuse to give the extraction FPS a spin, I come bearing good news. The next season of Arena Breakout Infinite is a big one. As well as new weapons, a map set in an exciting location, and overhauls of existing battlegrounds, several new game modes are coming – including the long-awaited debut of a solo experience.
Titled ‘Ignition,’ the new seasonal update for Arena Breakout Infinite is based around two main goals: refine the existing experience, and give people more ways to play it. The FPS game is still in the midst of a battle between not only the existing king of the genre, Escape From Tarkov, but other fresh milsim extraction shooters like Gray Zone Warfare and Delta Force. With this new update, the ABI team is clearly trying to flex its muscles and show fans it’s listening.
Despite the intense nature of extraction shooters, often relying on assistance and communication from teammates, the Arena Breakout Infinite community has been asking for a solo experience for a while. Although developer MoreFun has been a bit reluctant, it’s finally caving in with this new season. The Lone Wolf mode “will be launching as a limited-time event for beta testing purposes,” so even though it’s not sticking around, things are looking promising for the future.

That’s not all on the game mode front, because three permanent modes are debuting in Ignition as well. On the extraction side of the experience, Secure Ops is being introduced, which is a less-punishing mode for newer players or for anyone wanting to explore new maps or try out new guns. In this mode, you do not lose your equipped weapons when you die, so it massively lowers the risk. Elsewhere, some more traditional FPS experiences are being added: a classic team deathmatch mode and a team elimination mode (which features “turn-based strategy”) will both arrive.
The previously revealed Northridge map is also coming in this update, and it’s described as “a new, large, open outdoor map nestled in Onotos mountains” where the Northridge Hotel sits in a prime central location. The dynamic weather on this map will see things switch between sunny, overcast, and light rain conditions. Existing maps have also had a bit of a refresh, with new extraction points being added and extraction conditions becoming a bit easier and less intense.
The new season of Arena Breakout Infinite, Ignition, hits the game on Tuesday April 29.
