Insomniac Games currently has two major Marvel properties under its wing. Between the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man series and the secretive in-development Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac is at the forefront of Marvel-based games right now. After 2023’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the groundwork has been laid for a third entry, which could potentially round up a trilogy story.
Of course, Insomniac could go beyond a trilogy, but it seems unlikely at this point, especially with Marvel’s Wolverine now on the developer’s plate. While a third Spider-Man-focused game has yet to be officially confirmed, Insomniac has a tough choice ahead of it when it comes to Peter Parker’s fate. Whichever path Insomniac chooses for the web-slinging hero, Marvel’s Wolverine would be wise to take the opposite approach with Logan’s story.

Peter Could Meet an Unfortunate End
Until now, Peter Parker has been relatively safe in the story of Marvel’s Spider-Man. He had a close call in the sequel, but he continues to bounce back. Ultimate Spider-Man #160 is a stand-out entry in the hero’s comic series, as it marks the emotional death of the character. If Insomniac were to look for popular comic spin-offs to take inspiration from in a third game, Ultimate Spider-Man #160 could be a bold choice. Killing off Peter Parker would be a divisive move, but depending on how such a death is approached, it may be a powerful moment for the series.
There’s also the possibility that Peter Parker could retire peacefully. At the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, this was hinted at, but a third game would likely put him back into action, even if just for a short while. However, if Peter Parker is able to make it through the Marvel’s Spider-Man series relatively unscathed, Insomniac shouldn’t be afraid to take a darker route with Marvel’s Wolverine.

Logan’s More Aggressive Lifestyle Could Lead to Greater Consequences
Peter Parker is essentially the archetype of what a good hero is supposed to be like, in terms of personality. Logan, on the other hand, is a foul-mouthed anti-hero who isn’t above doing some serious damage to those in his way. Seeing how Insomniac plans to adapt such a character after the positive tone of Marvel’s Spider-Man will be fascinating, and it also opens the door for Logan to be in far more dangerous circumstances. There isn’t much known about Marvel’s Wolverine at the moment, but if Peter gets to live, then Logan should die.
Keeping Peter alive would fit Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s happier tone, but it could also give fans a false sense of safety regarding Logan’s fate. It would be a shocking rug-pull moment if Insomniac allowed Logan to meet an early end. Not only would it fit the character, but it would also hammer in the fact that the developer’s Marvel-based world still has consequences. Balancing the scales of life and death between Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine may be the best way to keep players on their toes, even if the protagonist has to face a sad outcome.
Despite being in the same universe, it’s unclear how connected Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine will be.
