The official website of the anime adaptation of Iro Aida’s Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga revealed on Sunday that the sequel to the second season of the anime is already in the works, and is set to premiere this July, forming part of the Spring 2025 anime season. The second season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun premiered on January 12, with Crunchyroll streaming the new season of the series as it aired in Japan during the Winter 2025 anime season.
The exact premiere date of this upcoming project is yet to be revealed, but the announcement also revealed that the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 sequel would air on Sundays at 4:30pm JST. The original author provided a brand-new illustration in celebration of the news.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is set at Kamome Academy, a prestigious school harbouring the “Seven Wonders”, seven supernatural phenomena that have become famous across the school. Through a series of unfortunate events, Yashiro Nene finds herself being forced to work alongside one such “Wonder”, an entity known as “Hanako-kun”, which is said to dwell in a cursed stall in the girls’ bathroom, together uncovering various aspects of the supernatural underbelly of Kamome Academy.
The first season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun aired for 12 episodes in January 2020, and it was a solid start to the anime adaptation of the series, boasting incredible visuals, an intriguing supernatural story that can also get a lot darker than the art style and atmosphere will have one believe at first.
It was announced in December 2022 that the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun anime would be “restarting”. This restart project began with the anime adaptation of the series’ spin-off, After School Hanako-kun, which aired between October and December 2023, followed by a four-episode sequel in October 2024. The next phase in the “restart” was the second season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, which ended this past Sunday.
The first season was directed by Masaomi Andō at studio Lerche, who was then replaced by season 1, episode 10 episode director Yōhei Fukui in the second season. Fukui was joined by other season 1 staff members, including scriptwriter Yasuhiro Nakanishi and character designer Mayuka Itō.
