Where other Xenoblade games have put a major focus on the plot-driven story, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition instead puts that emphasis on the individual stories of the denizens of NLA. And there are quite a lot of them, from the downright silly to the heart-wrenching.

It’s a nice blend of stories, and one that the Lakeside Getaway mission really puts to the test. It may start as some co-worker squabbles, and turns into one of the biggest tragedies on planet Mira. Here’s how to unlock the quest, and mitigate a bit of all that tragedy.

How To Start Lakeside Getaway

Jumping towards the water purification plant in xenoblade chronicles x definitive edition.

Lakeside Getaway is centered all around the Biahno Water Purification Plant. If that doesn’t exist for you yet, then it mean the mission won’t be available, either. To get the Lakeside Getaway mission, you must first construct the Biahno Water Purification Plant, which is itself created at the end of the Water Woes mission, which can be picked up after completing Chapter Five, Ma-non Maneuvers. You must then complete Chapter Six for Lakeside Getaway to become available.

However, there is one other requirement, and that is the Miracle Maker quest, which also requires completing Water Woes. In this quest, you foil the plot of a zealous cultist infecting the Ma-non to convert them to her cult. ANd she just so happens to poison the water of Biahno Lake, which leads directly to the events of Lakeside Getaway.

With all of these prerequisites out of the way, head to the Water Plant in NLA and talk with Rosie to pick up the quest. She’s angry that she hasn’t head from either Ian or Ajoa over the last few days, and wants you to head over to give them a piece of her mind. So head on out, and make sure to go prepared.

Defeating The Cantors In The Water Purification Plant

Once you arrive at the Biahno Water Plant, you will see that it is seemingly abandoned and under lock-down, with giant eggs scattered across the entire area. Enter the plant, and you will hear Ajoa locked inside, who explains that something happened and everyone was killed, and that you need to pick up a keycard to set her free and get inside yourself.

Defeat the Cantor that hatches from the egg and take its ID card to get inside. You must now head to the back of the plant to check the infection, and defeat three more Cantors to progress. The alarm sounds again, so you must rush to the front again and defeat another Cantor, who just so happens to be holding Ian’s ID card.

At this point, you must return to Ajoa, who is not handling this seemingly random monster outbreak and death of all her friends and co-workers very well. With Ian’s ID card, you can finally check the security footage.

Should Ajoa Take A Shower?

The option to refuse Ajoa a shower in xenoblade chronicles x definitive edtion.

Massively stressed from this whole event and not quite feeling comfortable viewing the security footage, Ajoa wants to take a shower to try and wash away all the events of the day. You are then presented with a choice, to allow her to take a shower, or refuse due to how sick she looks.

Unless you care for even more tragedy, it is imperative that you refuse her a shower. This may seem cruel, but will dramatically change the outcome of the quest for the better.

You are free to watch every bit of footage on the computer, but only the final one is necessary to advance the quest.

After watching, (or rather, listening to) Data Level Three, you will learn that the Cantor are born from eggs planted in their victims, in this case the workers of the water plant. They convince the host to move towards water, which helps birth the Cantor and destroying the human underneath entirely. This is what happened to the workers, and what could have happened to Ajoa if you let her take a shower.

After hearing this news, Ajoa takes some small comfort in knowing that the eggs could be removed, and rushes back to NLA. All you have to do now is go back to Rosie and tell her what happened. She feels immediately dismayed, horrified at her childish feelings following the tragic death of her friends. For now, the Biahno Water Purification Plan must remain idle.

Your reward for completing the mission is the same regardless of the outcome, including 13,000 Credits, 230 EXP, and rather cruelly, the male and female Grenada Swimwear, the Upgraded Snorkel, and Upgraded Swimsuit Bottoms.
