Craftmine and Launch Craft – Minecraft’s 2025 April Fool’s
Revealed today (April 1st), the Craftmine update changes how Minecraft works. Instead of Mine Crafting, you’re now Crafting Mines (worlds) for you to explore. Now, the game sets you in a Matrix-like area where you set the parameters of the world, and make it.
It’s part of a long trend of Minecraft April Fool’s jokes. In 2024, the game added a new The Poisonous Potato Update which transformed everything into a potato theme complete with new dimension. In 2023, they added the Vote Update which meant you could vote to change just what was happening in the game, with wacky results.
There’s been an April Fool’s update every year since 2010, and it’s one of Mojang’s and Minecraft’s longest traditions.

Craftmine Details
Here’s how the Craftmine Minecraft update works. First you’ll find yourself in a Hub world, with a Mine Crafter item. This item makes worlds based on the blocks you add to it. You can gather new parameter blocks by exploring ‘Mines.’
Once you’ve selected the parameters, click the Mine in the center of the Mine Crafter to head to that Mine. You’ll find yourself on a platform with an auto craft. At first, you won’t be able to craft yourself, thats something you can unlock later with XP.
Find the exit and collect blocks to earn XP and level up the Mine Crafter and your character. You can use XP to upgrade the amount of parameters you can use in the Mine Crafter or to upgrade your character so they can do useful things like move faster, or do the basic things like craft in Minecraft!

How to find the Exit in Craftmine Minecraft April Fool’s 2025
Finding Exits can be a little tricky if you’re not familiar with it. Exits have a blue Beacon coming out of the top of them. There’s multiple exits per world, so don’t worry about heading in the wrong direction. If you start walking, you should find one before long.

Launchcraft Details
Beyond just a new update for Java edition and Bedrock, Mojang also added a joke version of the launcher that game-ifies it. Now you can earn XP just for using the launcher. You earn XP by pressing buttons and idling in the launcher.
“Introducing Launcher Skills! You can now earn Launcher experience points to climb a ladder of prestigious levels. Unlock exciting skills to supercharge and customize your Launcher. The Launcher Leveling System can be disabled in your Launcher Settings tab.”

There are 30 real levels you can obtain, with upgrades including new cursors and fonts, etc. But there’s also a level 9001 which we guess doesn’t actually work (we haven’t verified).
What’s up with this April Fool’s Joke?
All in all, this appears to be Mojang saying goodbye to the XP bar, which is going away in the Summer update. The the XP bar will be replaced by the Locator bar, which will instead show lodestone locations and other players in your server. Think of this April Fool’s joke as a goodbye to the old XP bar, which will be hidden for most of the time!
