All four seasons of The Legend of Korra are leaving Netflix on April 16th, 2025. Netflix is the perfect place to watch new shows such as the political thriller Zero Day and also catch up on older releases. But, unfortunately, fans of The Legend of Korra and those who are interested in checking it out won’t be able to watch it on the streaming platform as of mid-April.

Avatar: The Last Airbender aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, and the sequel series followed soon after. The Legend of Korra series aired from 2012 to 2014, and each season is named according to the four elements. Season 1, or Book 1, is Air, followed by season 2, or Book 2, which is Spirits. Season 3, or Book 3, is Change, and season 4, or Book 4, is Balance. Besides Janet Varney, who voices the title character, The Legend of Korra cast members also include David Faustino as Mako, Kiernan Shipka as Jinora, Mindy Sterling as Lin Beifong, J.K. Simmons as Tenzin, P.J. Bryne as Bolin, and Seychelle Gabrielle as Asami Sato. Dee Bradley Baker voices several characters: Oogi, Pabu, Naga, and Tarrlok. The series also featured many big stars, such as Daniel Dae Kim, The Walking Dead and The Twilight Zone actor Steven Yeun, Serena Williams, Mae Whitman, and Mark Hamill.

In 2014, according to Entertainment Weekly, fans thought that The Legend of Korra was canceled. However, before season 3 was finished, the show was moved to Nickelodeon’s website. According to a post on the show’s Tumblr, “Korra is NOT cancelled. The remaining episodes will roll out weekly on Nick.com and the Nick app beginning August 1, as well as on platforms like Amazon, Google Play, Xbox and Hulu.” Viewers also learned that The Legend of Korra season 4 would be available on the website. While it was a shame that the entire series didn’t air on TV, at least viewers got to say goodbye to these beloved characters.

The Legend of Korra has fascinating and mysterious plotlines, such as the Avatar being tied to past lives and while some have been negative about the series, it still has a large fanbase. So, while it’s too bad that the show will no longer be on Netflix as of April 16th, 2025, there is good news. Fans can watch The Legend of Korra on Paramount+.

Why You Should Watch The Legend Of Korra

While another Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel called Seven Havens is being developed and it will be interesting to see what that is like,The Legend of Korra is a well-crafted and enjoyable series. A good sequel requires a well-written character and that’s definitely Korra. Although Korra has been criticized, she’s a strong-willed and intelligent character, and her journey is fascinating. Anyone looking for an adventure-packed series should check it out, and while it helps to have seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, it’s definitely possible to watch the sequel series without having seen the original.

But besides the exciting and fast-paced battles, The Legend of Korra has great character development. Janet Varney, who voiced Korra, shared her thoughts on the character in a 2014 interview with Comics Alliance. Varney said:

“I love Korra, she’s just so complicated. Being a teenager is complicated. Being a human being of any age is complicated, having that much responsibility is incredibly complicated. It’s been such a privilege to be a part of that journey that she’s on.”

She continued:

“I know some people disagree with some of the stuff she does, and she makes people crazy sometimes; I think that’s one of the compelling things about the show, that you’re not always looking up to her. No offense to Superman, a fictional character. That person isn’t as interesting to me as someone who is flawed.”
