Fall Guys Update Adds New Game Mode

On April 1, Fall Guys released an update on all platforms that introduced a new Ranked Knockout game mode, with exclusive cosmetic rewards for players to earn across eight ranks. Though the new Fall Guys game mode went live on April Fool’s Day, the timing was coincidental, as it will be a permanent fixture of the game that will receive updates every eight weeks.

Although Fall Guys went live in 2020, Mediatonic’s hit obstacle course title did not feature any ranked modes featured in games like Fortnite until the April 1 update. Following its transition to a free-to-play game in 2022, Fall Guys adopted a battle pass system, the Fame Pass, that offers free and paid rewards for players looking to add some cosmetic flair to their avatars. Fame Pass reward tracks have also included costumes based on characters from other games like Final Fantasy 14 and Death Stranding, giving players different ways to express themselves as they chase the elusive Crown.

With the latest update, Fall Guys players have a new way to ruin their friendships and earn rewards for their efforts. According to a blog post by Mediatonic, the Fall Guys Ranked Knockout update is live on all available platforms. The update requires 3.8 GB of additional space on the PC version, with consoles requiring similar amounts. Ranked Knockout is divided into eight ranks called Rookie, Contender, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ace, Star, and Superstar. Ranking points are determined by how many rounds a player reaches during a match.

Fall Guys Adds Ranked Knockout Mode

Each rank except Superstar is divided into three to five sub-ranks, and no demotions between sub-ranks will occur until they reach Gold rank or higher. However, ranking demotions, such as dropping from Gold to Silver, will not be possible. Ranked Knockout will be divided into Competitive Cycles that last eight weeks, and ranks will be reset back to Rookie with each new Cycle. Ranked Knockout’s matchmaking system will prioritize dropping Fall Guys players in matches against others of similar ranks.

Mediatonic also encourages Fall Guys players to report cheating that may occur, along with any bugs or issues. Players will be rewarded with Ranked Emoticons at the end of each Competitive Cycle, and players who reach the Star or Superstar rank will earn the Supreme Idol Costume. Ranking rewards will be phased out with each Ranked Knockout cycle.

With the addition of Ranked Knockout mode, Fall Guys continues to be one of the top play-to-win games available. Only time will tell how many players will reach the top of Fall Guys‘ new rankings.
