- Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 features Black Frieza illustration, aligning with main character transformations.
- Release date for Volume 24 in Japan set for April 4, 2025, compiling Chapters 101 to 104.
- Uncertainty surrounds Dragon Ball Super return with no info on new season or Chapter 205 release after hiatus.
Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 will be out in Japan later this week, and the back cover was recently revealed, with an amazing illustration of Black Frieza. It serves as a good addition to the cover, which shows Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Piccolo transformed to their maximum known potential.
Dragon Ball Super has been on hiatus since March 2024, with a small break in February 2025, when Chapter 204 was released (it was first announced as a special chapter). Some fans are still hoping that news will be announced right after the release of the new volume, but it seems unlikely.

Black Frieza In The Back Cover of Dragon Ball Super’s Latest Volume
Shueisha has added new images for Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 to their website, revealing that the back cover features an illustration of Black Frieza. Toyotaro drew it similar to the cover, which shows the main characters in their most powerful forms.
Actually, it is not a new illustration — it was first shown at Jump Festa 2025, held in December 2024. There’s also an illustration of Shimorekka, a secondary antagonist in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, on the spine.
Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 Release Date
Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 will be released in Japan in just a few days, on April 4, 2025. It compiles Chapters 101 to 104, and concludes the Super Hero Saga. As far as we know, this is the last arc with Toriyama’s involvement, but he may have written the concept for the next arc before he died.
Brief information about the volume was shared in the latest Dragon Ball Weekly News Broadcast:
VIZ Media has yet to announce a release date for this volume in the US, but it will probably be out in a few months.
When Will Dragon Ball Super Chapter 205 Be Released?
Unfortunately, there is no information about the return of the series from hiatus. Some fans were hoping that the latest V-JUMP would schedule Chapter 205 for April or later, but that didn’t happen.
There is a small chance that something will be revealed after the release of Volume 24, but it seems unlikely at this point. Fans will have to wait until V-JUMP or an official account shares more information about the end of this long break. So far, there is no date for Chapter 205 to be released in the near future.
However, the latest volume doesn’t suggest that Dragon Ball Super will be canceled — for example, it is not described as the last volume on any website. Toyotaro may be having difficulties writing the story without Toriyama, or it may be related to the alleged dispute over the rights to the franchise, but it seems that there are no plans to stop publishing the manga.
Dragon Ball Super is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
