For Warzone players, the new Call of Duty season is promising to be one of the biggest in months – maybe even years. Verdansk is coming back, so obviously all eyes are on the free-to-play battle royale. But there’s plenty of exciting new content coming to Black Ops 6 Season 3 as well that isn’t to be slept on. If you don’t yet own the latest premium CoD game, then here’s an important reminder: Black Ops 6 will be completely free to try in the 24 hours leading up to Verdansk’s launch, and that includes all the new Season 3 multiplayer maps, guns, and Zombies content too.
Season 3 has a slightly staggered launch, with it kicking off in Black Ops 6 tomorrow, April 2, and in Warzone a day later on April 3. The reason for this is that Warzone will be taken offline for that 24 hour period as Raven Software rolls out the mammoth Verdansk update, which not only contains the beautifully recreated map but also some sweeping gameplay changes to make the battle royale feel like it did back in 2020.
To give its free-to-play community some entertainment during this downtime, Black Ops 6 is opening its doors to everyone. During this short but very sweet trial, you’ll get access to all of its Season 3 content. This includes the new Zombies map, Shattered Veil; the new multiplayer maps, such as the remake of the Black Ops classic Firing Range; the new weapons, which include returning legendary Warzone guns like the Kilo and the HDR; and even the Season 3 battle pass.
I would highly, highly recommend taking advantage of this 24 trial, even if you know you won’t be committing to Black Ops 6 in the future. If you’re a Warzone player that’s been absent from the game for a while, but you’re coming back to check out the new-look Verdansk, it gives you some time to get to grips with the new Black Ops 6 weapons, perks, and other loadout items.
Even if you’re a Warzone regular with several powerful loadout options, it’s at the very least an opportunity for you to start leveling up the new Season 3 guns ahead of time – you’ll be gifted the Kilo for free just by logging in, with no need to pay for a tier skips or grind the battle pass, so at the very least you can unlock some attachments for that beloved assault rifle.
As an added tip, make sure you maximize your prep time by activating any double XP tokens you may have – if you’re running low, there’s almost always a free bundle of a couple of tokens that you can claim from the store too, so make sure you head there to grab them.
The new Black Ops 6 free trial will begin on Wednesday April 2 at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST to Thursday April 3 at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST. That’s a 24-hour window where the game is open to everyone. When this window ends, Warzone will come back online and Verdansk will become playable.
