Summary
- Kakashi becomes the strongest Mangekyo user after receiving double Mangekyo Sharingan.
- Kakashi’s new abilities include a full-body Susanoo and Kamui-infused techniques.
- Kakashi outshines other Mangekyo users like Sasuke and Itachi in terms of prowess.
The Naruto series has long cemented dojutsu to be the epitome of power, with Mangekyo Sharingan arguably being the strongest one among the many ocular techniques in the show. Several users throughout the series possessed the Mangekyo Sharingan, and each one had access to a unique power, yet there was a clear disparity in their overall strength. Among the many users, Kakashi Hatake is often considered the weakest user of the Mangekyo Sharingan, largely due to his lack of compatibility with the Sharingan, coupled with the fact that he could only use Kamui’s long-range ability.
However, this narrative soon changed after Kakashi received both of Obito’s eyes, granting him the double Mangekyo Sharingan. With a range of new abilities at his disposal, Kakashi becomes powerful enough to even go head-to-head with Kaguya Otsutsuki. From his perfect Susanoo to his Kamui Shuriken, Double Mangekyo Kakashi is arguably the strongest user of the Mangekyo Sharingan in Naruto.

How Did Kakashi Get the Double Mangekyo Sharingan?
Kakashi Briefly Received Obito’s Sharingan From the Ethereal Plane
First Appearance |
Naruto Shippuden, Episode 473 “The Sharingan Revived” |
Air Date |
August 25, 2016 |
Kakashi’s character is synonymous with the Sharingan itself, as much of his presence and popularity stems from his iconic appearance and the Sharingan in his left eye. However, in the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi lost his Mangekyo Sharingan after Madara Uchiha snatched it away to access the Kamui Dimension.
This time, I’ll protect them… and the world!
While fans had thought that this was the last of Kakashi’s Sharingan, Kakashi’s iconic Dojutsu made an appearance once more in the form of the double Mangekyo Sharingan. This was only possible after Obito had passed away during the fight against Kaguya. After passing the ethereal plane, Obito used his remaining chakra and infused it into Kakashi’s eyes, granting him the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes for a temporary period.
Instead of Kakashi simply having his original Mangekyou Sharingan back, he gained access to both the right and left eye, meaning he could now use both powers of Kamui. The Susanoo can only be wielded by those who have both Mangekyou Sharingan, meaning Kakashi now had access to this all-powerful ability as well. It’s worth noting that Kakashi not only had access to Obito’s Mangekyou, but he was also infused with the Six Paths Chakra, which made him an even more unstoppable force.
The Various Jutsu Of Kakashi’s DMS
Kakashi Gained a Number of New Kamui-Infused Techniques
By simply gaining another Mangekyou Sharingan in his right eye, Kakashi Hatake went from being the weakest Mangekyou user to one of the strongest ones in the Naruto series. This is evident from the hordes of techniques and jutsu that he gained, some that remain unrivaled by any of the other Mangekyou techniques. While Kamui is already one of the most overpowered Mangekyou techniques, Kakashi gained access to both Kamui abilities that are sealed inside the left eye and right eye.
Moreover, Kakashi was also able to gain access to a full-body Susanoo, something that has only been achieved by those with the eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, such as Sasuke and Madara. Kakashi became an even more unstoppable force due to the fact that he was able to imbue Kamui’s power into almost all of his attacks. His Kamui Lightning Cutter allowed him to send anything that he struck with his Raikiri into the Kamui dimension. Moreover, his Kamui Shuriken worked in a similar way, as they allowed him to send his target into a Kamui dimension from an extremely long range along with slicing his opponent. His base Kamui itself also received a significant boost in power, as its warping speed increased dramatically, along with its range.
How Does Kakashi’s Mangekyo Fair Against Other Users?
Kakashi’s Mangekyo Techniques Are Far Superior To The Rest
When compared to other Mangekyo Sharingan users, the only ones who come close to his prowess are Sasuke and Itachi, two of the most skilled users of Mangekyo. While Madara is certainly a powerful user as well, he rarely relied on the Mangekyo Sharingan, as his main source of power was his Renegan. Moreover, he did not possess any unique Mangekyo ability either, which makes him a somewhat weaker user of the Dojutsu compared to the rest.
Being able to pass through things really is a handy ability, Obito. – Kakashi
With his double Mangekyo Sharingan, Kakashi surpasses even Sasuke and Itachi, considering Itachi was never able to manifest a full-body Susanoo, and Sasuke only managed to achieve this feat after gaining the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Moreover, none of the other users were able to imbue their Mangekyo ability into their regular techniques and jutsu. This deems Kakashi an even more skilled user, considering he was able to strategically synergize his regular techniques with the Kamui. He also gained the intangibility from the right eye, an ability that he previously did not have access to. With these techniques in his arsenal, Kakashi’s Mangekyo is clearly leagues above the rest.
Kakashi’s Feats in the Battle Against Kaguya
Kakashi’s Double Mangekyo Sharingan Deemed Him a Powerhouse Against Kaguya
While the list of abilities in Kakashi’s arsenal while possessing the Double Mangekyou Sharingan already deem him a powerful shinobi, his actual feats in the battle against Kaguya further paint him as one of the strongest users of the Mangekyou. He served as a significant support to both Naruto and Sasuke in the entire ordeal, along with even saving his students from Kaguya’s attacks on multiple occasions. His Kamui Shuriken were able to sever the limbs of the Tailed Beasts manifesting out of Kaguya’s body, and his Kamui Raikiri further turned the tide of the battle in his favor.

The loss of Kakashi’s Sharingan forced him to adapt an entirely new fighting style, deeming him even stronger than before.
However, his base Kamui was arguably the strongest asset during the entire ordeal. His Kamui was able to warp multiple of Kaguya’s attacks into the Kamui Dimension. Moreover, his reaction time using the dojutsu was incredibly fast, as he was able to immediately teleport Kaguya’s All-Killing Ash Bones Jutsu to the Kamui Dimension, saving Naruto in the process. His reaction time was even faster than Naruto in his Six-Path Sage Mode, a feat that further showcases how powerful Kakashi was during this battle. It is worth noting that most of these feats were only made possible due to the residual Six-Path Chakra that he gained from Obito. However, it still does not negate the fact that these feats were made possible only due to Kakashi’s Double Mangekyou Sharingan.
Can a Stronger Mangekyo Appear In the Franchise?
Sarada’s New Mangekyo Sharingan in Boruto Is Another Contender
While Kakashi has clearly cemented himself to be the strongest Mangekyou user in this state in the Naruto series, the Boruto manga is set to introduce a stronger Mangekyou user in the form of Sarada Uchiha. Sarada had already awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan in previous chapters, though the latest chapter has showcased Sarada using her Mangekyou ability for the first time in Boruto Two Blue Vortex.
Sarada has been witnessed using the Black Hole technique, an ability that seems similar to Kamui, yet its workings and principles are entirely different. While little is known about this technique so far, it’s clear that Sarada’s Mangekyou Sharingan is set to become the strongest in the series, even surpassing both Sasuke and Kakashi’s double Mangekyou Sharingan legacy.
Naruto is available to stream on Prime Video.
