When Will Fortnite Be Back Up? Fortnite Down for Hours

This weekend, players hoping to jump in and check out the new content in Fortnite ran into a major problem. Fortnite down, and for quite a long time. The game experienced a major outage.

To say that millions of players jump into Fortnite every day, the game is usually quite stable. There are small problems here and there, but largely the game is stable. This weekend we saw a major break to that. With the game down for hours. Most of Saturday has seen Fortnite completely unplayable, with players unable to matchmake. Essentially meaning you can’t get into a game at all. Epic has said the game should be returning to normal soon. Why was Fortnite down though and what ramifications will it have for the game?

Fortnite Down for Hours

The game just began a new season for OG, but it’s first weekend has been one of the messiest the game has seen in years. We saw a new season launch delayed in mid Chapter 5, but outside of that slight pushback… this might be the longest the game has been down since Chapter 1.

The game’s downtime hasn’t just meant players are locked out. We’ve saw multiple esports events for Fortnite pushed back to next week since the game was unplayable. The title will have an especially packed week next to make up for it.

Last time we saw Fortnite unplayable for this long, players did get a nice reward when they re-joined the game. Epic choice to give away the Rust Bucket backbling as a reward for players who were locked out. However, it doesn’t look like we’ve gotten a free make up item this time. One might arrive later, and we do still have the Dupli-Kate free Fortnite skin to earn right now. With the game back online, players can continue to play through all those quests in Battle Royale.
