InZOI is the newest and hottest life simulation game on the market, with players finally getting to experience photo-realistic graphics and almost unlimited customization. However, with so much going on, players jumping into InZOI for the first time may find themselves overwhelmed.
This guide will walk players through their first steps in InZOI, making sure they don’t miss anything, while helping them get off to the best start.

Creating A Family & Choosing A Place To Live In InZOI
Naturally, the very first step in InZOI is character creation, which also involves picking outfits for different occasions and weather. This can be extensive if players wish, but for those just looking to jump into the gameplay, there are thankfully tonnes of presets, as well as a growing collection published by other players via Canvas in the top right corner.
Character creation also involves picking Traits, and adult Zois will additionally choose a Desired Life. If players want their ZOi to be part of a family, it’s best to make them all at the start, although members can be added later by going to the City Map and editing families. Roomates are another option.
Find A Place To Live
After players have created their Zois and named them. They will need to choose a city to live in, with each offering different aesthetics, cultures, and experiences from around the world.
Finally, players will need to choose a house or apartment for their Zois. For those who enjoy architecture in games, there are a few plots of land to choose from. This will enable them to build their own house.
Prebuilt houses can come ready furnished, or players can purchase them empty. For the latter option, players will want to make sure they install the following appliances.
- Shower
- Toilet
- Sink
- Washing Machine
- Fridge
- Oven with a stove
- Sink
- Counter top
- Bin
- Table with chair
- At least one bed
- Wardrobe
- Fire alarm
Of course, there are many more options and luxuries, but these are the essentials to survive. At this point, players may also want to decorate, especially as many decorations are practical, such as books, which can be read. Even art can be admired. Using images and InZOI’s 3D Printer, players can also make their own furniture.
Edit Your City Settings In InZOI Before Starting Play
Before pressing the play button, players may want to edit the world they live in, helping to set the scene for their story. This is done by pressing M to open the map, and then at the top of the screen, click Manage City.
Here, players have many options, with sliders allowing for desolate dystopian cities or an idyllic paradise where everybody gets along nicely. While these options can be changed at any time during a playthrough, including some aesthetics, it’s more immersive to do this at the start, especially when going for extremes. Options include:
- Setting the sanitation levels
- Altering relationship success and frequency
- Fire prevention rate
- Maximum population
- Choosing which trees and grass are in the city
- Custom billboards

Choose Your Character’s Preferences In InZOI
Preferences in InZOI refer to hobbies and favorite food types, but for some reason, these are not chosen during character creation, nor are they mentioned upon starting a game. To open this menu, click on the Zoi card in the bottom left and then select Preferences.
Each Zoi can have a maximum of 10 likes and dislikes. If a Zoi likes gaming, for example, they will do it more often and feel good when they do it. They will also be able to talk about their passions.
For an easier time, select more Likes. Zois will become happier and do productive things more often.
Choose Your Ambition In InZOI
In character creation, players will have chosen a Desired Life for their adult Zois. However, Ambitions are slightly different and can only be set in-game. Players will want to set an Ambition at the start of the game, especially as their wholesome Zoi might have been randomly given the desire to cause Social Disorder.
Ambitions in InZOI provide small, goal-oriented tasks with rewards for certain areas of life. Only adult Zois can have these, and they can be changed via the mobile phone. In the top right corner of the app screen, look for Ambition Notes. Ambitions include:
- Financial Success
- Career Success
- Stay Healthy
- Family Happiness
- Pursuit of Love
Start A Career In InZOI
The next step to get started in InZOI is to find a job, although this is only available for adult characters. Children and teenagers will instead be automatically enrolled at school. Senior characters will not be able to apply for jobs either, as they are at the end of their life cycle in InZOI.
To job hunt, open the mobile phone at the bottom of the screen. In the bottom left is the career app, and here Zois can apply for entry-level jobs of their choosing.

Ready To Start Playing InZOI
With all of that done, Zois should be fully set up to get on with their new lives. For options on what to do next, just try clicking on your Zois to see all the possible actions and interactions. Click on household items such as a PC to browse the web or choose a book to read if you have a bookcase. Open the map by pressing M, and visit a cafe or art gallery.
Players may also want to check their game settings before starting. The length of day can be alternated, manual driving can be turned on, and much more.
