Stage 2 Pokemon are traditionally among the most energy-intensive cards in Pokemon Pocket, but Shining Revelry is scaling that back by introducing many Stage 2 Pokemon that can attack within two turns. Several evolutionary lines have also been reworked, allowing Basic and Stage 1 Pokemon to contribute offensively while you build up to your boss monster.

Pawmot
Can Be a Pain To Attack Into
Similar to Druddigon, Pawmot has a porcupine-like ability that damages any Pokemon that dares to attack it. Pawmot synergizes well with Rocky Helmet, chipping 40 HP off opponents and softening up heavy hitters like Darkrai ex, Dialga ex, and Arceus ex for follow-up attacks.
With a zero retreat cost, Pawmot pairs well with other fast-attacking Electric types, allowing it to hit and move efficiently. While cards like Cyrus have reduced the impact of strong retreat options, Pawmot can still catch many players off guard, as it is rarely played but deals a surprising amount of damage.

Alakazam
Can Snipe The Bench
There seems to be a recurring theme among Alakazam cards—scaling off the opponent’s energy. SR Alakazam doesn’t have the same burst damage as GA Alakazam, but it excels at splash damage, dealing 20 damage to any Pokemon with energy attached. This makes it a strong counter against retreating Pokemon or those like Giratina ex that try to build up energy while avoiding damage.
The main drawback is that Stage 2 Pokemon typically need to be either strong damage dealers or have powerful bench abilities, like Greninja’s. While Alakazam is energy-efficient, the real star of this evolutionary line is SR Kadabra, which requires only one energy to attack—unlike GA Kadabra, which needs two.

Tinkaton Ex
Lacks A Flashy Effect But Has Good Stats
The first Stage 2 ex for Steel types is a fairly straightforward card. Tinkaton ex has solid stats, with 170 HP providing protection against many of the hardest-hitting Pokemon. It deals 120 damage for three energy on average, making it highly efficient. Fueling Tinkaton ex’s energy with Dialga ex is likely the best approach.

Dialga ex’s strongest partner has traditionally been Arceus ex, which has comparable damage to Tinkaton ex while being a Basic Pokemon. Although Tinkaton ex benefits from a defensive boost due to its Steel typing, it faces tough competition within Steel decks despite its solid HP and damage output.

Machamp
Has Comparable Stats to Machamp Ex
The most underrated fighting evolutionary line belongs to the Machamp family. Both Machop and Machoke are solid evolutions that can reliably attack at key moments. SR Machoke averages 45 damage per turn, making it comparable in utility to GA Machoke.
SR Machamp arguably surpasses Machamp ex in versatility. It can attack earlier than Machamp ex and can match its strength when given excess energy. While SR Machamp sacrifices some HP, it only gives up one point when defeated. Considering that many of the best one-point Pokemon are fighting types, SR Machamp has plenty of strong synergy options to explore.

Charizard Ex
Doesn’t Need Moltres Ex To Fight
Genetic Apex’s Charizard ex was one of the best ex cards in its set, so Shining Revelry’s version has a lot to live up to. SR Charizard ex is the first Pokemon to require five energy to attack, but it also has an attack that accelerates a massive three energy. This allows it to attack within two turns, and unlike Genetic Apex Charizard and many other Fire types, it doesn’t need to discard energy after attacking.
The only drawback is that SR Charizard ex can be somewhat predictable, as it needs to use Stoke before it can go on the offensive. However, whether one prefers GA Charizard or not, SR Charizard ex is certainly a viable option. Additionally, Charmander and Charmeleon have become more efficient attackers, making Charizard ex one of the most improved decks in Shining Revelry.

Beedrill Ex
Can Put Pressure On Your Opponent Early
It’s not easy being a Bug fan in Pokemon, but Pokemon Pocket has finally given Bug types proper representation with Beedrill ex. Beedrill ex is a two-energy attacker that deals 80 damage, but its effect makes it truly stand out. It always removes energy from the opponent’s Pokemon, either disabling their attack or preventing them from building up their bench while battling.

The Beedrill evolutionary line also received upgrades in Shining Revelry. Kakuna has a 50/50 chance of paralyzing the opponent, while Weedle helps thin the deck by guaranteeing a second copy of itself. Beedrill ex is fast to set up for a Stage 2, requires minimal energy, and has a highly disruptive effect, making it a deceptively strong option.

Meowscarada

When paired with Red, Meowscarada can one-shot key staples like Dialga ex, Arceus ex, Giratina ex, and Palkia ex, making it a formidable force in the meta.
