Pokemon TCG Fans Have Chance to Get 'Free' Snorlax Card

Summary

  • GameStop offers a free Hop’s Snorlax promo card to Pokemon fans who spend $15 or more on Pokemon TCG purchases in stores.
  • Hop’s Snorlax includes the Extra Helpings ability and Dynamic Press move, allowing it to deal extra damage.
  • Some Pokemon TCG fans claim that GameStop is not honoring the promotion at their local stores.

GameStop revealed that Pokemon TCG fans have the opportunity to earn a free Snorlax card that’s exclusive to the video game retailer, but there’s a catch. The promotion comes just a month after GameStop faced scrutiny from Pokemon TCG fans due to the company’s revised policies for new product releases.

The hobby of collecting and trading Pokemon TCG cards continues to be popular in 2025, with many new expansions and sets on the way. Although GameStop discontinued pre-orders for Pokemon TCG products this year, the company continues to be one of the main retailers offering Pokemon TCG expansions on release day, making it a popular location for collectors and newcomers alike. According to GameStop, the company’s goal is to ensure more fans are able to experience exciting Pokemon TCG releases in stores instead of limiting access to early buyers and resellers through pre-orders. One of these opportunities coincides with the launch of Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together on March 28.

The official GameStop Facebook account revealed its free Snorlax card promotion to celebrate the release of the Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together expansion. While supplies last, customers who spend $15 or more on Pokemon TCG products at GameStop will receive the free store-exclusive Hop’s Snorlax promo card. Hop’s Snorlax promo card features the Extra Helpings ability, which allows the Pokemon to do 30 more damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon, before applying Weakness and Resistance. It’s worth noting that the effects of Extra Helpings do not stack, however. Moreover, Hop’s Snorlax includes the Dynamic Press move, which deals 140 damage to opposing Pokemon but inflicts 80 damage to itself.

GameStop Offers Free Snorlax Card With Pokemon TCG Purchases at $15 or Higher

  • An end date for the promotion was not announced.
  • Some Pokemon TCG fans claim that their local stores aren’t honoring the promotion.

Although GameStop notes that the promotion is now active, some Pokemon TCG fans in the replies to GameStop’s Facebook post are reporting that their local GameStop stores aren’t fulfilling the promotion or don’t have any mention of it within the store. What’s more, other fans are still unhappy about the stock issues affecting Pokemon TCG releases in recent months, with a few encouraging fellow players to avoid shopping at GameStop to bring more awareness to the ongoing problems involving scalpers.

At the very least, The Pokemon Company is aware that fans are having issues purchasing Pokemon TCG products due to the high demand and resellers. With future sets and expansions, The Pokemon Company is maximizing Pokemon TCG production in an effort to increase product availability upon release. Further, the company is planning to print more stock of previously released Pokemon TCG products. Reprinted products like packs and boxes will be available at participating retailers, including GameStop, and the Pokemon Center online store as soon as possible.
