Pokemon Fan Designs Mega Evolution for Gastrodon

A Pokemon fan has recently designed a new Mega evolution for Gastrodon, coming up with interesting designs for its West Sea and East Sea versions. With the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A coming in 2025, many Pokemon fans have started to create their unique takes on classic creatures using Mega Evolutions, which will be featured in the next game of the franchise.

Gastrodon is a Water/Ground-type creature originally introduced in the fourth generation of Pokemon games. Unlike most critters from the same generation, Gastrodon and its pre-evolution Shellos have two variants, depending on where they come from. The West Sea Gastrodon has pink and brown skin and comes from the western side of Sinnoh, while the East Sea Gastrodon is blue and green and hails from the opposite side.

Now, a Pokemon fan called El-psy-congroo-01 has created a new Mega evolution for Gastrodon, coming up with its West Sea and East Sea versions. The West Sea Gastrodon looks like a big slug with pink and brown skin, as well as yellow and blue spots over its body, and is a Ground/Poison-type monster. On the other hand, the Mega evolution of the East Sea Gastrodon is a Water/Poison-type critter and has green, blue, and pink colors. The post was praised by the Pokemon community, which gave El-psy-congroo-01 over 1,300 upvotes.

This is far from the first time a fan designed Mega evolutions inspired by the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Earlier this month, for example, another fan created Mega evolutions for all Pokemon Legends: Z-A starters, coming up with creative forms for Mega Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr.

Fans will likely continue to come up with new Mega evolutions at least until the ones that will appear in the game are officially revealed. Reports indicate that Pokemon Legends: Z-A could have 27 new Mega evolutions. Officially, Game Freak has already revealed that Absol, Aerodactyl, Altaria, Ampharos, Charizard, Gallade, Gardevoir, Gyarados, Heracross, Houndoom, Lucario, Kangaskhan, Pidgeot, Pinsir, Sableye, Salamence, Steelix, and Tyranitar will have Mega Evolutions in the game.

Recent leaks have also revealed four new Mega Evolutions that could appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. According to these new rumors, Starmie, Chandelure, Dragonite, and Excadrill will all have Mega evolutions in the upcoming game. In any case, it’s best to take these claims with a grain of salt, as they are still unconfirmed. However, it’s obvious that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be an exciting game for fans of the franchise.
